I couldn't hold out any longer and had to blow some money on a new toy. Bought a Savage model 11 in .243win, have a bushnell elite 3200 3-9x40 on the way to top it off. Its my first centerfire rifle and I was wanting something that could reach out a little bit:D Probably gonna be the only toy I buy for quite awhile though too :grumpy:
Anyway, there's plenty of cheap 100 grain PSP loads out there to be found but nobody local has anything for varmints at less than a buck a round. Would like to just reload but it doesn't fit the budget or my schedule at the moment. Thought I might try some of the bulk 75 grain V-max rounds cabelas has in the last catalogue they sent me and was wondering if anyone else has tried the stuff
Or if you have any other suggestions? I know there's a lot available on the net.

i've used the bulk ammo from cabelas-- 300 rounds of .45 ACP.

all of it cycled reliably. no problems, no issues with quality or defect. plus you get that cheesy plastic box, which can serve some purpose around the apartment.

HOWEVER. they sell ammo cheaper by the individual box. i bought 300 rounds of .45ACP cabelas bulk ammo for like ~78.00, then a week ago i bought 300 more rounds individually packed (50 round boxes) for like ~72.00.

how dunno how this correlates to .243win though.

Thanks for the reply, glad to hear it shoots ok. You're right, you do have to watch what you're buying because its not alway a deal. They list 100 round boxes of .243 for $64.99 which isn't bad. With shipping I'd guess it will still be less than 80 cents a round which is cheaper than I can get ballistic tips locally. I can get all the PSP's I want, right in town for 11.00 a box of 20, which aint bad at all, I just don't want to shoot the stuff

Sheeeeit, I buy my .45acp from Wally World... Winchester White Box costs 19.99 for 100rds.

You can't afford not to reload. You will recover your initial outlay in gear within a few boxes. Reloading is dirt cheap, easy and fun.

Back when the UK was a slightly less unfree country, I could reload .45ACP cheaper than I could buy .22LR.

You might also look at Black Hills ammo. I have heard/read some good things about it. I think that they have both reloads and new manufactured stuff.

Thanks Everyone

Have to check out some of those links.
Winchester white box is hard to beat, but unfortunately they don't have it in .243, least not that I've found anywhere local.

Reloading is a catch 22 Max. I know it would save alot of money but getting the cash together to start would be pretty tough right now. I'd have to cut back on my shooting:rolleyes: Also takes time to do it, which I don't have much of. One of these days though I'll at least start getting the equipment together.
