Anybody try to patinize a blade to obtain tiger stripes?

Having forced a patina on three blades so far, a Swamp Rat Swamp Warden, a KaBar full size tanto, and just a few days ago a KaBar USMC Fighting Knife, I'm curious if anybody has attempted to produce a tiger stripe pattern with a forced patina. If you did, how did you do it, and were you happy with the results? If you have some pics, I'll be very interested to see them.

Thanks.

I've done it with 01 tool steel. I just used some yellow mustard and made the pattern using my finger, let it dry over night. Washed the mustard off with warm water. I thought it came out pretty nice.

Sounds good. Any pics?

I'd imagine you could use petroleum jelly to mask areas and get cleaner lines. Haven't tried it on blades, but it works well with other media.

Wax would probably work the same way. The nice thing about forced patinas is they're not permanent, so you can experiment with different materials and techniques.
