Anybody used one of these as a PSK?

Nailed it!

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out acronyms on the 'net, but like to make sure that I got it right.

i carry one daily. where I work I don't have a dress code so I can get away with cargo pants. It will hold a lot of stuff, only problem is that it gets bulky quickly.

Seeker got any pics by chance?

Did you get the one from CountyComm or did you drop the $ on the BlackHawk/Spec-Ops one? They appear to be the same to me from pics on the sites.

Thanks for the info fellas

Main items goin into the kit would be knife, light, palm, FAK and PSK

sorry, no photos. I have both the spec-op and the county-comm one. the only differences are
1) county comm has 2 "gear leashes", spec-ops has 1

2) county-comm has velcro patch on front to attach your own, spec-ops's patch is permanently attached

3)fixed belt loop on spec-op (must take belt off to wear), county-comm's is quick detach-able with snaps.

4) when open, the right side nylon panel, county-comm is sewn into 2 sections, spec-op left it as 1 big pocket

personally, I wouldn't have bought spec-op if I got the county-comm first. the construction is a little better on the spec-op but not worth the gap in price.

as for "gear-leash", I never had a use for them so the more there are, the more annoying.

I cut the thread holding the internal pockets on the county-comm to make 1 big pocket as that is more conv. for me.

the yellow interior on the spec-op is a big plus.

overall, county-comm will give you the best bang for the buck IMO.

FAK - first aid kit

*Palm slap to forehead* Doh. I didn't get it because I always think of a FAK as a neccesary part of a PSK.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Here's the follow up...

I purchased one of these last week and started modding/filling it up as soon as it arrived.

I removed the stiching that made the right side pocket into 2 to form one large pocket.

I then picked up a omniseal wallet from REI and seperated the two sides two make 2 cases 3"x5"

Following is a list of whats in each case. One is a PSK and the other a FAK.

PSK:
1 - flat emergency whistle
half a sheet of printer
metal pen refill
Small roll of 1" medical tape

SHELTER
8 - small yellow zip ties
4 - medium safety pins
4 - small safety pins
2 - large sewing needles with abot 3' of thread each
4 - small eye bolts
20' of 30lb test monofilament

FISHING KIT
2 - medium fish hooks
4 - small fish hooks
assorted small split shot
20-30' of dental floss

FIRE
Ferro Rod off of a Doan tool
2 - fire straws

FAK:
2 - 2x3 Bandages
4 - Lg. Plastic Bandaids
4 - Lg. Cloth Bandaids
4 - Med. Plastic Bandaids
2 - 2x2 Gauze
3 - 2 packs extra strength Tylenol
4 - Butterfly Closures
2 - packs Burngel
2 - packs Hydrocortizone
3 - packs Neosporen

One of these Kits rides in each pocket of the organizer. I have a mag solitaire in one of the pen holders a few tooth picks in a slot by the side of it. Another whistle from ITW Nexus and a pen ride in the next slots (I have two more slots to fill). I added a braided lanyard to the zipper pull and a patch of velcro on the side opposite the pen slot for my palm pilot and thats as far as I've gotten.

I'll try to get some pics in the next few days.

All this is in addition to the duct/elec tape wrapped cards in my wallet(i picked up her or on ETS how to wrap fishing line, then foil, then tape. I also carry a few bandages there as well as some large safety pins. And then there is the phone kit.
