Picked this up as a dedicated "choppa". I've never had a Parang before. :)

Bark River?

It looks like a Borang or a Palo to me. (Bolo + Parang)

To the Malaysians or Indonesians, Borang has a totally different meaning.

I'm curious how this one works though. Let us know, will you?

That thing looks sweet! I like Parangs, Goloks etc. Personally in my rotation I use Condor's Bushcraft Parang. No action pics of it but it works well for me.

I picked one up about a week ago its made in Malaysia by a company called MY PARANG . I have had a bit of a play with it and so far I am loving it :thumbup . I think BLADE HQ are stocking them if anybody is interested :)

I sometimes use the Condor Village Parang. Like it a lot for a chopper. Have a fair number of choices, so I don't only use it.

I like your Parang BlueMetalChurch. I assume it is a Bark River.

No real parangs, but a few parang-shaped objects.

Somewhat kinda parangish. (You'll notice that is not a fresh cut. I didn't chop down that tree.)

I also have a Ka-Bar Parangatang that I haven't used yet. The weight and balance feel great but the peak on the handle has to go.

That design has a problem. It is a big knife with a parang to be blade. The handle makes it tiring to chop as you can't wrist snap.

I've been interested in the parang since I saw Ray Mears use one in an episode he did somewhere in South America. I like the idea of different angle grinds for different uses on the same blade, kind of like a large Tom Brown Tracker. From what I read, Bark River has 2 different grinds on their parang as well. How is is to use for fine and coarse work bluemetal?

That looks like a really fun addition, you might be able to chop tree with that one as opposed to that fella who chopped down a tree with his trusty peanut!

Think a parang would work out well for yard brush duties? I'm curious to try one!

I have had one of these for about 2 yrs & do not regret the purchase it has served me well in the bush.

I used my long Condor parang to chop the weeds, grass down by the lake. It does a good job. I had to thin the wood handle down, but that was easy.
