Anybody wanna try a heat treat for me?

Hey there, guys.
Lately I've been thinking about what to do with that antique Nepalese Kukri I got from Atlanta Cutlery several months ago. I'm gonna try calling them back on monday to see if I can return it.

I got one without a handle, and planned to attach my own and put it to use. I would have been happy enough if the blade was in the 40's Rc, but when I got home, I quickly discovered it is soft as brass.

The end of the rat tail tang was bent a bit, so I touched it to the grinder. From the sparks, I'd say it's not even high carbon steel.

If I can't return it, I was wondering if any of you guys would be willing to try re-heat treating it for me. I figure, just bring the edge up to non magnetic, and quench it in brine. If that doesn't harden it, no problem; I've lost nothing. I don't have a forge, and don't trust my skills with a torch well enough to attempt it myself. (I've always had someone else heat treat the big blades I make.) And of course, I'd be happy to compensate you for your time and shipping.

Any takers?

P.S. If they will take it back, I'm planning to put the cash toward an HI kukri, but so far I haven't seen any of their offerings that are as pleasing to my eyes as the shape of this one.
