I just thought that I would offer to make some Damascus from Chain or cable or some of my woodgrain or just random pattern for any one that would like to buy some to use.
I will make a billet that can be cleaned off and used or I will make it so you can forge the shape and thickness that you want yourself.I don't have a way to presision flat grind them though,So they will be straight from the forge bars.
If anyone is interested please send me a email for the prices,I promose that they will be very affordable for anyone that is wanting to try some.

I just thought I'd put in my plug for Bruce. I got some from him. It is straight and pretty flat. It took very little to get the finished surface. The pattern on mine is breathtaking.(random) I'll post pictures as soon as I finish it. I wasn't going to say anything because I wasn't sure Bruce wanted his name associated with my knife like objects in any form. But seing as how he is now offering to sell his beautiful damascus to any and all, I'd like to say it is a delight to work with.:)

Peter,I am not ashamed to have my name associated with your knives in any way.I am proud to know that I was able to help you out in getting to make a Damascus knife.Glad to here that you like it also.

Bruce,
Email me your pricing.
I think it would be neat to do my first Damascus blade made from your stuff:D
I do stock removal.

I'm happy to report that the chain damascus pieces that I just got from Bruce have excellent potential for some folder blades or bolster material. I did a little grinding on them this afternoon and then etched them. It was interesting to see what the different lengths of time do to the steel. I got a definite raised pattern after about 15 minutes. After rinsing well and hitting with a scotchbrite wheel they have an instant patina. Bruce is a wicked good guy to deal with and very generous as you all know already....:D

An update on the knife I'm building with Bruces steel. I finished the blade today. It etched well. Now the important part. I'm a sharp fanatic. If it ain't controlled linear fisson sharp, I don't want it. I spend hours on the first edge. Well I spent about 30 minutes and it was perfect. Thinking it was too soft I gave it the whittlin test. Not soft at all, just a fine edge.

Bruce, when I use up this batch, I'm going to order more so don't lose the directions!

Thanks Peter,I have been wanting to here how you others that have gotten some from me think of it.I am glad that it works good for you.I want a picture please.
