As part of my current therapy I now do about an hour's worth of Medicine Buddha puja almost every AM. It's a Buddhist mantra designed to help healing. I have a couple of Medicine Buddha CDs which I play while doing the puja. I use a couple of yoga techniques and visualization along with the mantra. I've only been at it about a couple of months but I feel it is doing some good, however, there are no guarantees.

One of my old classmates from Cherokee, KS, class of '51, wrote me a couple of months back telling me he had a very aggressive form of prostate cancer and about the only thing that might save him is surgical removal of entire prostate and perhaps some extra trimming here and there. I offered to do Medicine Buddha for him. At first he declined explaining that he was a Christian. Today I got another mail and a health report which was not good (in pre surgery physical problems were found which may prevent surgery in which case my pal will probably be dead in 3 or 4 months). However, after consideration my pal says he wants me to go ahead with Medicine Buddha and that he feels there is no conflict between it and his Christian belief system. I agree so I'm putting him on the prayer list.

I have a nice print out of a Medicine Buddha thanka (He's blue, by the way) and I'm putting my pals name, date and place of birth on the back of this picture -- this will log him into the puja system. If anybody else is in need of or simply wants the benefit of an hour's worth of Medicine Buddha most days send me your name, date and place of birth and I'll get you logged into the system. There is no overload. 2 names or 200, Medicine Buddha will work equally for any or all.

Email.

If you need more info use Google and do a search for Medicine Buddha. You'll get more stuff than you might want and certainly more than you will need.

absolutely Uncle,

I'd like to put in the name of a good man, Bill Martino. Born Sept 23, 1933 in the U S of A.

Bill you have email. I would like you too put my daughter and granddaughters name's on your list.
Sure can't hurt and the God(s) know they both need all the help they can get!

I have just emailed. I don't know if you can do this, but any prayers would be appreciated for servicepeople overseas, as well as all injured in the Iraq conflict. Thanks, Uncle.

Bill,
My daughter is having trouble with her leg from the accident in Hondouras. She just had more surgery. Her name is Persephone and she was born in San Francisco in 1976.

Please put her on the list.

Thanks,
Chuck

That's very kind of you Uncle Bill. Thank you for the generous offer.

Thank you, indeed, Uncle Bill. I'll send you an email later. My future father-in-law is battling with liver cancer. He's so close to beating it. We just need to push him up and over the hump. This is a very kind offer.

Thank you
Jake

Thank you, and will send an email tomorrow, I really need some rest tonight..

I try to go to the Medicine Buddha puja's at the local Tibetan Buddhist center every month. I missed a Medicine Buddha empowerment not too long ago, but the regular practice seems to work OK. I know they have their place, but for some unexplained internal reason, I'm skeptical of empowerments.. If you have any insight, I'm all ears..
