Anybody wear these?

ah, zip-offs...I didn't know that they still made these. They were quite a hit a few years ago. I had a couple of pair and like them. as for that specific brand/seller, I dunno.

Yeah, I liked them as well (columbia I think) but couldnt get past the " take your boots off to remove" problem. GOod for spring use on nongroomed trails and early cool morning starts. never tried the jacket/vest zip off sleve version but that might have worked as well, guess that they are available too.

Please refrain from posting gear threads in W&SS. It has nothing to do with the subject matter the forum is designed for. You're asking general information on a product.

Yeah, I like them. Have several sets; some are nylon suplex branded by Bass Pro or other companies. The zip-off feature can be nice, but I don't use it very much to be honest. I buy them more because I like how fast they dry and how cool and breezy they are. The material is very light and durable, so they are pretty compact to pack as well. They don't look good after you do it, but you can smash them into small spaces pretty easily.

You know where these really shine? Believe it or not: theme parks like Silver Dollar City, Six Flags, etc. You sweat your butt off and they dry quickly. Take the kids on one of the boat rides where you get wet, you dry quickly. Lot's of pockets, too. Get too hot and you can unzip them and put the bottoms of the legs in your pockets pretty easily; or better yet, the wife's purse.

I have a couple pairs from North Face. There are a couple great features about these style pants.

1) They dry quickly - less than an hour if worn.
2) Super lightweight and compactable
3) Go from a bit of warmth in the legs to cool in the legs.

The big drawback in mine is really a mixed-blessing. The lightness I mentioned makes them feel less durable. I have caught them a couple times on branches and feel like they could tear easily. I hope to be proven wrong over time, but am not convinced that mine (some are much thicker material) are for hard-use.

The other possible drawback/benefit with the thin weight is a nice display of your package, but that is really a YMMV situation.

I actually have gotten a couple pairs of these:

They're "no sit" convertibles, comfortable as all heck, cool & dry quickly when wet. Glad I got the first pair on sale. I used them for hiking, for working out & normal wear.

How do these zipoffs handle sweat?

Many years back, I had some synthetic zipoffs (don't remember if they were nylon), and the slightest bit of moisture would turn them DARK. I'd sweat a bit (or a lot), and then get silly looking/embarrassing dark spots until they dried.

-Anything Columbia is good. I've had everything from socks to hats to parkas to tents and everything in between and its all been good, durable well made stuff. Good customer service too!--KV

I've been pleased with most of Columbias products. I own several of those types of pants but from Cabelas. One thing to check, the inseam length. Some of those types of pants are made for short inseams (ie. Larry Bird uniform shorts from the 80s).
