Anybody with a Cinci BK-4 and a BK-20 that can do a comparison?

Two completely different blade types. There is no comparison.

Somebody sell me a cincin bk4 and ill do the comparison.

Although I have to agree with rick. Different blades, no comparison needed.

Yes, they are different . It still would be interesting to see what style blade performs better. WTH

IMO The Bk20 is a very aggressive big badass becker that bites hard the cinci as the Bk4 a very good chopper with less weight and shorter blade more user friendly on long task, sorry about the Shit photos but raining here so both the camera and lack of time only a few shots of how they bite a Maple Log

The Bk20 Bites deep only comparison would be The Kukri IMO

I don't have one of those 4s, but don't think it would have a chance against a 20 for chopping. Other tasks yes..

I disagree. They are both primarily designed as choppers.

Doc

Yes, and no. The Machax is an all purpose woods tool, and the 20 was designed as more of a jungle machete. The 4 is MUCH more utilitarian than the 20, but the 20 is much more powerful than the 4. Experienced hands will love both. Inexperienced hands will love the 20 more. Doc, I'd say you'd still take your 4 over it.

I used the 20 & 21 yesterday to bust some coconuts. 21 bites deeper but that was expected due to size and point bias, but the 20 bit down almost as deep. What astounded me the most was the accuracy I could manage with both big blades. I learned to open coconuts many moons ago as a kid who loved to play with machetes, so now when I use big knives to do that task, more often than not I'm disappointed...but not with those 2 big beauties. I still have 7 or 8 coconuts waiting to be mangled, so I will do them with the 4 and compare results.

20 is not for the meek, if your questioning your man hood, at all, don't get one.;)

Grind is excellent for the thickness, stabby durable tip, just has a great "classic" look/feel to it. I honestly don't find it real heavy/big, if was doing tons and tons of wood work/brush clearing might take 4 or 9, but if put a convex edge on the 20 I bet the weight of the blade would do most of the work for you when chopping. Large knife no doubt, but for the larger/stronger, fellas/ladies think it "can be" good all rounder. Probably not for everybody though.

I haven't used a 4, but finally got my hands on one with 20 and can see why people like it, much better than thought it was going to be. I'd bet it makes a great wood processing knife. Nice and light and really dig the blade shape. I have enough choppers though and hurting for money so will have to get another one down the line.

I like 20 over 4.

we could also compare weight and other factors :D

i haven't actually tested a BK20 yet... so... I have tested the BK21 a bit though.

but i'd take my CinCinn Machax almost any day of the year. Great size and range of uses for the package.

"more powerful"... hahahahhah. knives don't have the power man, you have the power!

Bladite hasn't tried the BK20 yet?!?

Bladite has to buy his own, and life has been pretty hectic lately (new job! training! other fun things!)... lots of yard work, and clearing when i have the time...

probably the North East gathering will be my chance. hell, maybe i'll win a couple :D

Well the BK20 is an excellent tool for yard work. Although we haven't determined how good it is at flipping burgers.

First of all, nutoknives, thanks for taking the time to do that.

Is that a Cinci or a Camillus?

I get your point Rick, but since I'm a little short on jungle, my interest is how they chop up here in hardwood country. Actually, I think I could write a comparison without having handled the 20. I would think the 20 would bite deeper due to weight and length. I'm just curious how much better. For small knife tasks, I would think the Cinci 4 would have the advantage. For me, the Cinci also has, as Bladite pointed out above, a size and weight advantage - much more compact and light weight for hauling around. There's one other advantage of the Cinci 4 and that is it has a much stouter tip which would have served me well the other day, trying to pry out some fatwood. Someone posted a picture comparing the tips on the 20 and the 2 and the 2 was much thicker. The Cinci is much thicker than the 2, at least the first generation 2.

And, of course you're right - I am hugely biased towards the Cinci.

I guess what I'm really trying to do is talk myself out of spending almost $300 (Canada-US exchange rates and shipping). I have no doubt the 20 is a first class blade, and a joy to own but a bit pricey for us Canucks. I know, it comes with a Kabar 4 and a 5 but I already have 3 BK-4s - 1 Cinci, 1 Kabar stamped, and 1 Kabar etched and for the next while BK-4s will be selling dirt cheap. A shame really, because it really is an excellent design.

Anyway, thanks everyone for replying to my thread.

If you've got the funds I say go for it. If you don't like it you WILL be able to flip all three in the package. Bundoks alone are already going for $160ish. Your assumptions are correct. The 20 does bite noticeably deeper, and it's a lot more "wieldy" than you'd expect. It really is very lively in the hand. Extremely responsive, too. You'll like it. A lot. But, up to you if you want to keep it. Still... That cinci 4 is just damned hard to beat.

Both are Cinci 1 just has the old Cam Scales the other unmolested both users 1 a little more than the other and the BK20 worth it's weight in Gold a Big Badass Becker but as CM said both have their own advantages and your welcome now go order the 20 Doc

I did not know the cinci 4 came without the hard chrome finish interesting.

Yes believe referred as phosphate finish but not 100% on that though, checked Data base and the phosphate finish correct and also the original finish as per the Jeannie in the Butter Basement Bladite
