Anyon have one of these RSK MK1

I have mini and full size plain edged versions of the RSK. Good knives.

The price is due to blade material and the unique to RSK blade grind. Otherwise, same as the Griptillian as far as quality goes.

The Griptillian is offered in many blade grinds. You would have to decide which one you think is as good as the Ritter version.

BTW - plain edge versions are available.

I have 3... both sizes in black blades and a mini-RSK stonewashed blade. The stonewashed is in my work EDC rotation. It's a helluva work knife for what I do in a warehouse. Very discreet, a good size to carry and use, excellent slicer. It's easy to sharpen on a Sharpmaker. Honestly, I'd rather carry and use my mini-RSK at work than my small Sebbie, I'm just not gonna pay $330 for something and not carry it :o.

The standard BM mini-Grip is also an excellent knife. 154CM is good steel for a small EDC folder. It's easy to work with and pretty resistant to corrosion and edge chips. I just like the Ritter's blade shape better and S30V is my first choice for an EDC folder's blade steel.

Their both Benchmades, so why would the quality be different between the two pieces?

All the Griptillians are good knives, and I wouldn't worry about blade steel, as BM uses good stuff.

I see. The Griptillians are quite a bit less though.

I really like my RSK Mk1. I think the blade shape and S30V make it worth the money compared to a standard Grip.

is this benchmade comparable? seems like the only real difference is the steel. would the quality be about the same?

It is the exact same knife from the same manufacturer as the RSK except for the blade shape and steel. The design, execution, lock style, and handle/scale/lock materials are the same in the RSK, the standard Grips, and the Cabelas Grips. Those of us that prefer RSKs do so only because we like S30V or the Ritter blade shape or both.

I have large and small Grips in the standard 154CM version, Cabelas' D2 version, and the RSK versions. I prefer the RSKs for their blade profiles and their S30V blade steel, but other than that, there's no difference in any of them except handle scale color.

The Ritters are very nice folders and the S30V is RAZOR SHARP! They make a very nice EDC! Get one and you wont regret it! GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

I have the bm 558 (RSK mini) and I love it. I even swapped out handles with my other OD green mini. It is a great knife. If you can afford it, get it! If not, just get the normal grips/minigrips they will work very well.

I have the RSK fullsized and love it. Great EDC and great outdoors folder. However, it's only worth it if you if really like the blade shape. The normal Grip blade has a better point, but the ritter is the superior slicer.

I just bought the Ritter Mini grip (after receiving advice here) and will probably go back for the full size ritter Griptillian as well.

Yes, there are full sized plain edge in 154 cm - model 551 for the drop point and another with the sheeps foot - see the Benchmade site. They are about half the price of the Ritter versions. There is also a D2 version at a cost in between

Search here for a thread I started (but cannot find at the moment) "Which mini griptilian? - and it should answer a lot of questions about the differnces between the models. There was some excellent advice by knowledgable people who had both ritter, D2 and standard models (154cm now)- the weight to me of the advice is that all are good but the ritter was the marginal favourite.

I chose the ritter because the blade does has a higher grind, lacks the false edge on the back (I don't like tactical look) and the stone wash blade is very attractive and pragmatic (the D2 comes in black only)

The thing came scary sharp as the healing cut on the end of my thumb shows when I became a little complacent

There is a 551 finishing on ebay for around $55 in a couple of hours, but I'll probably go back for the ritter for over twice that.

There are even aftermaket mods to get to change the scales (at outrageous cost ) but look very good
