I think most people buy them to collect and look at. I just wondered if anyone has actually used theirs and what they thought of it. From the looks it would seem to be a stout knife.

Most people don't use any bowie knife. It's primarily for killing and is large and heavy. I am one of the few that use a bowie knife, but not for what was meant. I use it to chop up mesquite and hickory chunks for my Weber grill.

It is a beautiful knife. I love the looks. The handle is way too small, in my opinion.

Brownshoe, even tho' they call it a bowie, it almost looks like drop point to me. I don't know if I can mentions stores on this forum but you can find a pic on the web from that well know store in east TN or one of the AAPK members is a Canal Street dealer.

This it?

Yes Jack that's the one. That one is Chestnut wood. I know they have made it in Madagascar Ebony too. Re Bowies. They may not be the best for game but Buck has sold thousands of the 119 Special bowies and it little brothers the woodsman and the pathfinder to hunters . I still think the Canal Street looks like a modified drop point.

No sorry, just handled one at BLADE one year. I like the steel, fit & finish was very good, but my hand was cramped between the guard and pommel hook. It can be the best made knife in the world, but if the ergonomics don't work for my hand I don't buy it.
