Any prefered free blog hosts / blogging software ?

Thought it might be easier than my webpage
to put text & pix online

especially if the files can be referenced from outside
to include in forum posts

[yeah, know there are free photo hosting sites
but I'd prefer a site in webpage format]

I don't blog, but this is a wonderful idea and I'll be interested to see if this thread can teach us something.

Some blogs scare me. People post things like pictures of their kids, names, where the kids go to school and their interests. Then pictures of their house, here's my new computer, and we'll be gone on vacation to Florida for 2 weeks starting Friday. Why not go ahead and post where you hide the spare key and the code for the security system while you're at it?

I've thought about putting up a small webpage dedicated to knives and a little ndn lore and legends and stories but I just barely have enough time to keep up with the forums usually.
I don't think my life is interesting enough to have a blog and like the webpage I wouldn't have time too keep it current.

The Cherokee story of how the Buzzard got his bald head is pretty humorous as is the Navajo/Dine' story of "My ball's for his dinner.":D
