Anyone bought a Terzuola custom folder?

I ordered a TTF-3A from Bob about a month ago, and I was wondering if anyone had that particular model. It's unfortunate that I have to wait 10-12 months for the thing (beyond my normal patience limit!), which gives me a lot of time to think whether I made the right decision or not. I only own one custom knife, from Bob Dozier. I guess I'll know if I made a good choice or not when the knife gets shipped to me! I liked the fact that Terzuola offers many options on his folders, so I was able to get it just the way I like it. It's hard to pass up something that caters to your needs so well! Hehe!

Hi Savman

You will be very pleased with your TTF-3A. Bob makes a very good knife As far as waiting for knives, welcome to the world of custom knives. Most sought after makers will have a minimum of 6 months. The very sought after makers average between 12 and 36 months.

Of course there is always another option! There are those who provide the object of your desire in a much shorter period of time.

By the way, dont hold the makers to that 10-12 month thing. They do their best to meet deliver times. What are you doing a year from today?

Hi Savman - as owner of two of Terzuola's folders, I can firmly attest to the fact that waiting 12 months for your knife is well worth it. It will be agonizing at times, but in the end it is worth it

11 months after I ordered my ATCF from Bob T, I got a phone call from him saying that my knife was done and he would ship it out that day. I figured since I waited 11 months, what's another week or two to wait for the knife to arrive? Well, to my surprise, the very next day the FedEx truck rolls up and the driver hands me the package. Turns out Bob T sent it next day air!

Thanks Les and Dexter! I'm new at ordering knives from the custom guys and it helps to have someone give you details from their experience of the same type. The production stuff is easier to get right away, and that's what I'm used to. But, since production products are "take it as is or leave it", I had to search for an alternative. The only obvious choice was custom, and for folders I've heard some good things about Terzuola's work. I've seen his folders in a display case at shows, never handled them, though. After getting his catalog, I saw all the options that he offered and I was hooked. A knife made to order...I like that!

Tony,
Here's the goods:

Robert Terzuola Knives
Route 6, Box 83-A
Sante Fe, NM 87501

Phone: 505-473-1002
Fax: 505-438-8018

You will really like his catalog! He has some really great offerings and options. I've found that he answers his snail mail and faxes before he will answer the phone or return a phone message. Obviously, he's a pretty busy guy.

I got my ATCF (no bolsters) about a year and a half ago. Its one fantastic knife. I carry it almost every day. Fit and finish is fantastic. If I could change one thing about the knife it would be the blade steel. The ATS34 holds a good enough edge, but I know there are better out there, and I'm afraid to crank on it too hard for fear of chipping the edge like I've done with other ATS knives....jeff

Les --

You mentioned the long waits many custom makers have. I'm curious, if you're willing to divulge the answer, as to whether or not the large custom dealers (like yourself) also have to suffer that wait. That is, do you have to order knives a year in advance so that it's always last year's knives on your table? I can't imagine that being the case. Most makers must cut the big dealers some slack as far as the waiting period goes.

Hi Joe,

No, dealers do not wait as long for their knives as a regular customer would. However, when I first started dealing with Bob, It took about 6 months for the first group of knives. Well half way into that 6 months, I ordered more, now its a 3 month wait. I just placed an order with Bob for 25 folders, not its getting to be a 6-8 week wait. Well you get the idea.

Dealers are a great source of guaranteed income, advertising and future orders. Like I said at the outset of this thread, tired of waiting a year, contact me.

Also, a heads up! Bob Terzuola made a few fixed blades earlier called the Entry Team Tool. The individual who placed the 25 knife order backed out. So I will now be the exclusive dealre for this incredible fixed blade designed specifically for SRT and SWAT teams.

More to follow....

Les,
Do you have a picture for the entry team tool from Terzuola yet? I'd like to know more about it.

Savman, I dont have a picture yet. Im going to see Bob at the SHOT Show. We are going to discuss the time line for getting the first two. Once I get those I will photograph it and put it on my site. The other is going to Steven Dick at Tactical Knives for an article.

Big Dave, yes I have those coming in. The next two Starfighters and TTF-3a's are already spoken for. My advice is to get one on order with me. Right now your looking at late April/early May.
