I'd really like to have one of these, but can't convince myself to pay that much for one. I've come close a few times, but backed off. Just can't do it. I was informed by Emerson CS that this was a limited run, but how limited I'm not sure. Will some be available at the on-line vendors? No one knows.

Someone mentioned before that he would laugh if anyone paid what Emerson wants. And I find it hard to disagree. The quality and F&F is good, but not that good. I think my limit would be $200. I don't know, curious as to what others are doing...grabbing one now? Or waiting?

I love the blade shape but I'm not a huge folder fan. It's also too much for me to consider for a folder with out perfect FF. I'd rather spend 800 on a custom with a stronger frame lock. So I went to another maker for a Fixed blade version. Price for a Completely custom Persian knife with an Emerson style blade in my Fav. Steel CPM3V was under 300 bucks right around the exact price of a New Emerson Persian... YMMV.

Yeah, I found a fixed custom persian for just under $300. It's smaller and I feel that I'll get what I pay for. Though, I do like the Emerson...

I don't buy or own Emerson knives anymore but as a fondling piece the Persian is definitely worth the tears of anguish as you spend MSRP on an EKI! IF you explain that you bought them at MSRP you can actually cut it pretty close when selling the knives too.. a lot of people don't really care and would just buy any Emerson that comes up.

The persian is a great knife and the EKI liner lock can't really compare to anybody else's other than maybe a Spyderco Military. Emerson liner locks are more than capable of lasting 5-10 years of use.. they might travel a bit. Fit and finish has never been super tops but they're working men's knives built by American hands, which is important to the company and it's customers, some people always will pay more for that. This is all coming from someone who is impartial to EKI stuff these days too :)

I remember when the Roadhouse was coming out... 250 was NOTHING for how awesome that thing looked and handled!

Oddly enough I still wear the t shirts though, they're pretty cool.

I just got one of the older ones. Very cool, F&F has never been an issue with me and Emersons, BUT its one step above the Spyderco Civilian in practicality.

I ordered a Persian SF on 10/17/2011, straight from Emerson (3rd knife I have ordered straight from EKI, the other two being a Gentleman Jim and a Gypsy Jack).

I hope they'll start production soon so that I can get my hands on this beauty. I already own a BT version of old production - made in 2008 - and I am excited about the chance of getting my hands on a Persian SF.

I love ethnic inspired blades and among all designs, my favorite is the persian. Among all regular production folder with a persian blade, Emerson's Persian is my favorite. If I could own only ONE knife, it would be the Emerson Persian. That tells you how much I love this knife (I own quite a few knives from Emerson, Spyderco, Benchmade, Cold Steel,
Kershaw, Strider, Zero Tolerance and too many other brands to name) and for me this occasion can't be missed. Even more so if it's a limited run.
But hey, I understand if others feel that the price is too much. After all, it's a very subjective matter.

The only 2 Persians that I have I bought directly from EKI when they did a run last year. I have many others that I've bought on the forums at lower prices but since these don't come up very often and I genuinely appreciate Mr. Emerson's ethic and made in America product it was worth it for me. He won't ever get rich off of me but I didn't have any problem sending a little extra money his way for the cause.

I'd have to try to dig up a receipt but it could have been 2009.....I just checked the date on the blades and they were 2009. Time sure flies when you're havin fun.
