I'm going to the Best Buy down the street and picking up the new Soundgarden album after I get out of work tonight. I didn't realize today was the release date until I checked online at lunch break. I have an album of their hits called A-sides. I owned Bad Motor Finger and Superunknown, I still have Down on the Upside. Like many other fans, I came on board with the popularity of Black Hole Sun. I don't listen to much rock anymore, classic rock if I do listen. Haven't listened to the local hard rock station in months. Talk radio, or one of the blues or bluegrass cd's in my truck. Maybe some blues or bluegrass at home, maybe talk radio (Car Talk or Coast to Coast).

Soundgarden used to be my favorite band. Could this be the album that Metallica was hoping for with Rick Rubin and Death Magnetic? A bunch of old guys who have nothing to be mad about, trying to get that sound they were able to create when they were just starting out? I haven't even heard any of Soundgarden's new songs. I just remembered I picked up their recent hits compilation from last year.

I've always liked Kim Thayils guitar playing, and I've followed Chris Cornell on some of his solo stuff, and his first album with Tom Morello and the rest of Rage Against the Machine was entertaining. It was still just Chris Cornell and Rage though.

Anyone out there care about the new album?

I bought it, they didn't knock it out of the park, but it isn't bad either. Wish I would have bought it out of the used bin.

Not interested in the new Soundgarden, but "Koi No Yokan" from the Deftones is in heavy rotation at my house.
You stole the words from my mouth! Deftones flat out rocks. One of a very small handful of bands you can count on to produce quality music and not sell out (Tool as well). Poltergeist is getting a lot of listens so far.

I still can't pick out a favorite song, and that's a good thing.

Yes it is, maybe after my four hour drive for family Thanksgiving, I will have a definite favorite. I have them all, but Rocket Skates (Diamond Eyes) might be my absolute favorite.

Chris Cornell used to have an awesome voice. I really like their early stuff and some Audio Slave. I 'm not real excited about anything new
