Anyone carry a neck knife in a Blade down position ?

I am going to be makeing neck Knife sheaths for several Old Hickory Paring Knives and an Old Hickory Double edge Knife.

I am very interested in seeing pics of your Neck Knife Sheaths (leather or kydex)that you use in the blade down carry.

Thanks

I made this one a couple years ago. Rawhide over leather with a leather neck strap. It's pretty crude, my 1st attempt at a sheath. I got some pointers from a YouTube video. I believe I could do much better with a second foray into this, I'm no leatherworker but have been dabbling in some lately.
It is a comfortable way to carry a small fixed blade, the knife pictured is around 6" oal.
Good luck with your project, I look forward to seeing pics.

Aboriginal peoples in North America commonly carried their European-acquired knives around their necks, in sheathes or pouches. Traditional aboriginal leather garments didn't have pockets, and while pouches were common they weren't that great for long objects like knives. Voyagers wore sashes, but carrying a knife in a sash would have been pretty awkward in a canoe or on a long portage weighed down by a couple hundred pounds of furs, so I suspect neck carry was common with them, too. When I worked at a canoe camp in northern Minnesota one summer (this was way back in the Dark Ages before you needed a permit to canoe in the Quetico), the guides carried their knives slung around their necks. Mors Kochanski favored neck carry.
