...On a daily basis? I have one with plain edge coming and am beginning to wonder if it might be too big for EDC. I'm use to carring a small Sebenza during normal activities but there are times where I'll grab my Microtech LUDT. It having a 3 1/2" blade does most jobs without fail.

I've been debating with myself on which Spydie "lockback" to get that wasn't to cumbersome. The Stretch seems slim but still ruged. I like the idea of grip inserts.

Hi Blackend. I'm carrying one today. I use it often for an EDC. It's easy to carry and performs very well.

I finally handled one at the local knife store a couple of days ago. I was amazed at how slim it was. Should be hardly noticible in the pocket.

Well knowing that it's the knife carried by the company owner gives me warm fuzzies. Thanks Sal! :)

One of the appealing things to me about Spyderco lockbacks IS the thinness. Normally it would be something of concern on other production folders, but not with lockbacks.

Short version - I think the Stretch is the best "user" Spyderco makes.

Bought two of them back when they first hit the streets. One was to go into my EDC rotation, the other was for my collection. Within two week my EDC had virtually stopped rotating and Stretch #1 became my almost constant EDC. In late December, during a senior moment, I discovered that pouring several gallons of boiling water on a Stretch can cause the kraton to loosen a bit. So I sent it out early in January to have the kraton replaced with canvas micarta. Two days later, with well over a hundred other Spydercos to choose from, Stretch #2 lost its virginity. Excellent ergonomics, a lot of blade packed into the most compact handle possible, flat grind for superior slicing, nice big thumb hole, smooth action, traction grooves on spine and choil all add up to one great knife.

Fanatstic webpage Deacon! I really like the ability to compare sizes. That really helped me to realize that the Stretch will be a great daily carry for me. Being able to see it next to my Scorpius and Native sealed it!

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I really like this knife.

It was thinnner than I expected....though I bought it on looks alone without ever handling it. It has that look like it will fit your hand well & it does.
It is a very smooth opener & closer & the blade is of course wickedly sharp.
The Krayton handle is a welcome touch & it kinda "grips" you back.
The multi-adjustable STURDY pocket clip is genious....again thanks Spyderco :)

Pointy tip for getting into detailed cutting & a there awesome serration...well, on mine at least. The VG-10 can be polished up nicely if you like...though the blade does tend to show scuffs/scratches easily...even before polishing.......

Buying without trying is how I purchased my Stretch & my Manix & I am VERY happy I purchased them. They will be in my EDC rotation along with my Assist for a long time.

Have had my Stretch for a couple months. It does it all and is my EDC. Use it many times a day. Couple swipes on a hard Arkansas occassionally keeps it ready. Liked it so much I bought one for a friend. I think he's addicted also.

The Stretch is one of my favorite EDC's these days. It is simply one of the largest blades packed in a shorter slim set of scales that I've seen. It's also what I would consider a very evolved knife that borrows good things from many of Spyderco's earlier designs. One last comment I'll offer up is that for some reason the Stretch is much more "sheeple" friendly than most.

I do my best not to buy repeats of the same knife these days, but like Deacon above, this one is an exception. I've got 3.

Great reviews guys! My Stretch should be here Monday. The more I hear about it...my anxiousness grows. COME ON ALL READY! :grumpy:

I handled one 2 days agao as well. A verty nice knife, and would have bought it but didn't have the $140.00 at the time. Its been there for a while so maybe soon I can pick it up. Is it a good price?

I have a Stretch that I've carried off and on over the last few months. It's great, you couldn't go wrong with one. But, I was thinking of removing those rubber inserts and maybe having some material (pearl, white micarta, even a wood of some sort) placed in the spaces for a different, gentleman's folder look. Curious. Does anyone know of any good customizers who dod this sort of work? Does anyone have any pics, or links to some, that show restyled Stretches? Any replies are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
