It seems I missed the boat on this wood. Is it discontinued or just out of stock? Anyone out there carry a large Lignum 21 who could post some pics?

I believe its discontinued. I had a small and I liked it, but needed some funds so I sold it. I too would love a large in LV. On some I have seen, its highly figured, but its mostly just plain straight grained wood. The appeal is that its one of the hardest woods in the world, if not The hardest. Just depends on what wood hardness scale you look at.

I discovered this inlay after it had been discontinued! I am on the look out right now for a mnandi with it.......

It is a very beautiful wood IMO. It has the look of a finely layered grass blade. If you can grab one Cody, jump on it.

I had a nice Manandi in LV, but gave it to a more gentlemanly friend as it was too small , larges all the way for me.

Interesting wood. Sinks in water and so hard it was used for shaft bearings in steam ships. Sure makes a nice inlay or scale.

Here's a large I had, and let go this past year. It's a beauty with very feathery and colorful Lignum Vitae inlays.

Pix were taken by a prior owner.

I now own the one fewpop posted, the back scale is amazing. Looks plain in low light but just a little light brings out lots of grain and color. A very unique feature. It feels different than other inlays I own, sounds weird but you can feel the hardnesss, it is always perfectly smooth and dry, stuff doesn't build up on it.

thanks for starting this thread, I just fell in love with my own knife again !

Here is my small. A favorite in my collection!

I used to have a Mnandi with a great but very different grain:
