I'm thinking of maybe making some wooden scales for one of my Kershaws. No particular reason, just want to see if I can do it and what it would look like. Have any of you done so? What were the issues and how'd it look? Could you post a pic or two?

Thanks....

I'm about to venture on my first custom-scale project. I'm going to put some jade G10 scales on my Skyline as soon as the slabs arrive. I started a thread here, and I will follow up with progress and final product pictures.

I'd imagine wood is a little harder to work with, so make sure your do your research before you jump right into it. That includes finishing and treating the wood after you've finished the job. Just keep in mind that patience is the most important aspect of scale-making, and that no amount of experience guarantees you won't mess up.

Here's a Thermite I did in Jade Ghost G10:

Making scales for SpeedSafe knives is interesting. You can either mill out the pocket, or you can remove the torsion bar and drill a detent hole. I did the second option.

A simple google search will turn up more information on this and other subject much faster than posters can type...
