For many years Buck would make a yearly special knife for its dealers; usually very ornate and signed by Chuck & CJ; I don't see them on the
market much, but I have this one!!

Very nice! Since I didn't know anything about a "Dealer Knife" until you posted this, the answer to your question is, no I don't collect them but I might now. Is it just one style/type of knife each year or have they done the same model for several years with different modifications/embellishments?

It is a different knife every year...they DO charge the dealer $100 for the knife, but always a bargain as they have contained many new options to knives like lasoring, gold, inlay ivory and scrimshaw work. If you know an older knife dealer you might ask them about them!

dctex99, when did they first start making them for the dealers... Do you have the box for yours...
How about some pictures of it... I'm sure I don't have any... But something new to look for...

It comes packaged the same as Yellowhorse knives, in a brown box, on the wood box is the dealers name, and simulated signatures from Chuck and CJ, and on the back of the knife is the Buck Dealers' account number; I have all for this knife; kind of cool; would be a $500 knife !!
this is from 2006, don't know when they started or stopped..good question for Joe H?

Here's a box I got with a 110 colt...

:)

I still would like to see a picture of it or you don't want anyone to see the name on the box... That's cool...

I wish Buck would make more knives that come in a wooden boxes...

Here is the dealer knife from 2009. It commemorates 5 years in Post Falls, Idaho. This is the only one in my collection and the only one I have ever seen for sale. I was not aware of dealer knives until I found this one. Fished it out of the Bay last year. Forgive the quickie hand held photos, they don't do it justice, the banner is gold. The dealer # is engraved on the back side. The outside of the box is plain. This blade was the basis for the Palm handled Akouna build out last summer at the BCCI event.

This 270 Alpha Dorado buildout was based on the dealer knife for 2007. The dealer knife had a mirror polished blade with gold ram and ram horn handles. I think actually trying to collect dealer knives would be pretty tough.

Glad I bought the buildout one last summer at BCCI,!

These have been sold on the build out lists from time to time. I guess the left overs that did not sell to the dealers. A few knives like in the OP was once sold on one of the build out list. I almost bought one, but all the list said was dealers knife, mod # and no information as to what the knife looked like so I passed.

If I remember right, the build out knife was just the knife in a box and the dealers also got a knife stand that was a bear. Someone posted a photo of the complete ste on an old SPS.

Non-Buck, but on topic:

I was given the dealer list from someone at Benchmade when I asked for it. I was looking for the Benchmade equivalent of what this thread speaks to, special and limited dealer-only knives. I contacted everyone on the list and acquired some interesting and rare pieces at a broad cross-section of prices. Several of the dealers were quite obscure. One was an individual. A fireman. Seek and you shall find.
