Can't help you at all with the dating, JD, but they sure are a couple of fantastic vintage knives!!
Both German-made?

The Shapleigh I believe is one of the parts knives they tried to sell as NOS found. I believe it was Jim Parker who bought old Krusius Bros. inventory and assembled these, from old parts or ?

It was 1997 when the factory in Germany was bought, same time they acquired the Weidmansheil brand.

No ,definitely not, just an indication of the true age. If antique they would command a higher value at this time, who knows what the future will hold.I actually bought a cattle knife from SMKW,not knowing these facts at the time.

In my farmers jacks Lockwood Bros are in a similar category. An old name whose construction is not.

And is a real beauty! I wish a person could still get one like that, the shield and bolsters are outta sight!

yes,and the half stops are very stout, but smooth....i guess you'd call it a peanut?
i guess it's old enough to show off in the OLD KNIVES thread....Long time since I had
one to share....JD
