I have the CUDA MAXX 5.5 and love it, it is a top of the line knife. The D2 blade steel does take some effort to sharpen, but thanks to its strength, it also holds an edge extremely well. The titanium frame provides excellent rigidity, durability, and a very tight lock-up.
Your concerns are valid though. With a blade that big, it would be a good idea to check the laws where you live to make sure there is not a legal length limit. Sheeple are also an issue. When you take out this knife, it gets noticed. There have been times when I wanted to cut something, but checked myself because I didn't want to draw that much attention. Manageability is also a legitimate concern. For most jobs, something in the 3.5" size range would be more practical.
To conclude, if you like the design, you won't be displeased with it. Just be aware of the drawbacks. Another thought is that with the demise of Camillus, a new CUDA MAXX would probably be a good investment.
