Anyone EDC a Kershaw ET?

There seems to be precious little discussion of this knife, particularly given how innovative it is.

I'm wondering if anyone out there EDCs an ET, and/or has some long-term feedback regarding its durability?

This is a ridiculous knife in my opinion. More of a novelty knife than anything. I've held a few at gunshows and the handle (if you can even call it a handle) had the most uncomfortable and awkward feel ever.

i don't edc it; i do clip it on my vest when working in the woods...i like the ET enough that i am considering getting the g&g hawk version with better steel...

My climbing partner keeps his clipped to his harness. It's great for slashing webbing and any other task. The knife takes a surprising amount of abuse grinding against rocks and getting covered in ice. It still functions like new, despite all of that.

I don't carry it EVERY day, but it is in my rotation. I too am surprised at how little attention it gets.

Even if you don't like all the different cool ways you can open/close it, you could always just do a spydie drop, or open it like a normal thumb stud.

Has anyone ever done any real testing of the lock? As long as your hand is holding the knife, it CAN'T close. So the only way for it to fail, is for something to actually break.

It has a nice looking pocket clip that rides VERY low, and it probably has one of the biggest knife:clip size ratios out there.

If nothing else it is a very unique and cool addition to any collection, great conversation piece as well, there is truly nothing else out there like it.

Mine was given to me by a very generous forum member :cool:

I have one, but mine was one of the unlucky ones with the design flaw where the blade hits the spring, so there's a little chip on the blade.

I haven't gotten around to sending it in yet.

Just read a few reviews. Looks interesting, price is right, knife is unique and looks fun to play with... I just ordered one!

I have one, got it for the novelty factor and, for me, that's mostly what it is. Never carried it. If I had an application where I could make use of the clip like the poster above I would definately carry it. It is a cool thing.

I like gadgets , so my opinion is probably biased ( plus I'm a Kershaw fan).

My 20 year old daughter was able to comfortably open and close the blade after 5 tries. The knife itself is well made and perfect for when you want a light, strong , easy to open, easy to clean knife.

It's a lot of gadgetry for a small price and considering the nice blade shape , one could do a lot worse.

It's interesting and all, but it seems like I'd be asking for some bites with a that closing system... Also, wouldn't this be classified as a switch blade? The blade opens via a mechanism which is engaged by pressing a button or some such on the handle?

I doubt it, as the motive power comes solely from the user.

Besides, I live in Oregon, where autos are legal!

I used to have one but sold it. I actually loved the knife. It had a great blade design but it was SO bulky in the pocket I stopped carrying it. Super sharp and fun to open and close. Just felt awkward in the pocket.

many look at the ET as a toy, which it is not...many consider it a novelty, which is understandable, it certainly is different...mine has seen lots of field use (primarily): sawing off branches, cutting fish, whittling, peeling off bark, ripping canvas; no loose bolts, no issues...my original reason for getting it was for the carabiner on it...

i like g&g hawk designs (also have zt500 and RAM); they're innovative and certainly an acquired taste...

in the end it is a knife with special qualities, just as sharp, effective and lethal as any other regular handle bladed knife...

Maybe it's just me, but there is something about that blade shape that makes me want to jam it into a tire. I always resist the urge of course. :D

my buddy just bought one yesterday. he seems to like it well enough. i see it clipped to his pocket now.
im kinda pissed at it now, it bit me earlier this morning. he watched the video on how to safely operate it.
back to the point: he likes it initially, time will tell

By the way, the carabiner clip could use some more gate-clearance. It's just barely enough clearance to get it on a harness gear loop. It's very difficult to clip with gloves on, too.

At least it isn't as bad as that Buck Revolution "climbing knife". Whoever designed that tiny clip must have never actually tried clipping it to his harness. I ended up having to clip a real carabiner to the knife. I can do that with any lanyard-capable knife.

I've always liked the ET design. I don't think it's impractical at all. I think it's rather ingenious. A highly underrated knife in the knife-afi community IMO.

Had mine for a couple years. Never carry it anymore though. I hated the pocketclip so much that I removed it and carried it carabiner style on my bet loop
I think it is a cool , different knife.
