Some people conceal large wheelguns. Why not a khuk? Just wondering...perhaps you conceal a JKM-1 or Sarge, or karambit even?

I rotate a JKM, Sarge, and bilton on just about a daily basis. Usually the JKM sees the most use, but sometimes the sarge or bilton strike my fancy. The kerambit rides in my jacket pocket when i am going downtown or anywhere at night. not exactly the firearm that i would like to carry, but reliable as can be as well as comforting.

I've carried a bilton several times, wouldn't say I EDC'd it though. Also, I carried my kagas katne a lot when I first got it. Wonder where it went??

You can make a leather wallet-type sheath and carry the karda from any of your khuks in your back pocket... Know your local knife carry laws. I do.

I've broken Swiss army knives, but can't imagine what force is going to break a JKM. Carried every day, it will outlast any mortal. The sheaths wear out, though. Someone called it a sharpened prybar. It is, but pretty.

Lately EDC has been a Sarge. Slimmer, I like the false edge, mine has a nice feather grain in the horn. Throw away the frog- this little guy belongs in the pocket, not on the belt IMH,H,H,O. The guard on it looks fragile, but really isn't, and its a good thing, feel-wise.

Really, you can't compare Sarge & JKM. Sarge is more like a customized karda, and JKM is simple utility. Get both & see. They're inexpensive for something that lasts forever and you carry every day. Besides you are hopelessly addicted or you wouldn't be reading this. :footinmou

Since an honest review shoudn't be all positive :D a Bilton is at the bottom of the big box of khuks. I can't get it sharp and the grip is just too small for my fingers. :( YMMV. The Kharka ones are nice though...

Thanks for the observations. I'd love to get a Sarge, but the d*mn sharks beat me to them day after day after day! I got my Kharka Bilton really sharp, and I usually can't get the HI stuff very sharp. I agree on the handle, and I would file off the back edge so that it would round off into my hand, except this particular one has a beautiful gray horn that I cannot bring myself to (de)file.

I carry a JKM regularly during the fall; I also rotate a bilton among my daily-carry work knives.

I keep an AK in my gear bag at work, does that count?

Kagas katne at work. I have an HI kerambit in my LBV as well.

After the Sarge knife completes sea trials, it may get substituted.

Cognitive?

In most jurisdictions, a concealed carry permit does NOT apply to edged weapons, unless the law specifically includes them. It surprised me to learn this.

Even LEOs have restrictions which would defy common sense.

I posted some CCW stuff not that long ago. Check your local laws before carrying.

(edit: EDC is usually a SARGE, with some variations. I recently messed with handle ergonomics on a smaller, thicker bladed knife. The SLF, i.e., Stout Little Fokker, has an apple wood handle that flares substantially into my palm. Sometimes, my other knives cry out to me to be taken for a walk. They are family, after all. :) )

Be well and safe.

On the weekends I would be OK carrying my JKM, but need to make a new sheath for it before doing so. Something in very heavy leather fitted to my favorite weekend belts.

A kerambit in a winter coat pocket would be a possibility as well, but I still need to "shark" one of those.

There really aren't any HI products I can carry on weekdays. My co-workers would call SWAT if they saw the Spyderco Delica I carry now, let alone a real blade like a HI khuk. Sheeple...can't live with them and gotta tolerate them.

Well, based on what some of the gun writers SAY they carry daily, I thought I'd mention my equivalent EDC's for knives:

I carry a razor sharp Sarge knife in my rear pocket for little stuff, an equally razor sharp kerambit at the waist under my coat for basic defense, a 16.5" chiruwa AK (or sometimes my 21" Chitlangi) on my other side for general chopping chores, and a Manjushree slung over the back just in case. It's a nice short sword, so is not too noticeable. Some folks in business meetings have commented, but I just take out the kerambit and start spinning it around and eyeing them, giving an occassional quick chop at the table edge, and they usually shut up pretty fast.

Sitting in the smaller leather covered adjustable office chairs or in the front seat of the car can be a real pain with all that stuff hanging off me, not to mention the hell it plays with the upholstery, but I figure it's worth it for the peace of mind it brings. Most police and the security guy at the bank don't seem to appreciate my logic though!

However, it is nice to know I am prepared to slice, cut, hack or chop anything that needs it!

Regards,

Norm
