Anyone edc a Vulcan?

I purchased a full size Vulcan about a month and a half ago. Even though I own many knives I find that this has replaced everything in the rotation. The zytel handle seems like it was custom made for my hand! I find the blade shape (plain edge, drop point) to be very useful and the Vg-10 steel holds its edge well and is relatively easy to resharpen. I don't find it too heavy for my jeans pocket even though I have seen some complaints about the 5 oz. weight. For such a great knife I don't see much posted about it. Does anyone else edc this knife?

It was my main edc during 2k8... I found one thing, that really got to bug me, though. If you have it closed and pull back on the arc lock, you may notice that it allows the blade to "fall" into the handle and the edge actually collides with the Zytel backspacer... This really bugged me. Maybe they've fixed that now, if you've got a newer build, so YMMV. :)

I just now tested that out. The blade does indeed hit the plastic spacer if I keep the arc lock depressed while closing it. Since I don't close it that way it doesn't bother me. By the way, I really like this arc lock. I prefer it to the Axis lock on my Benchmade 710.

The liners are thicker on most of the axis lock knives I've owned or fondled, and the axis, due to how it's designed tends to make the back-spacer hitting issue, a non-issue. So, all told, I'd have to give the edge to the axis, at this point, but that particular pendulum could always swing back the other way. I'd like to see the next gen Vulcan, flat-saber ground, more tip-strength, partially serrated, with thicker liners, and with the backspacer hitting issue resolved... Oh, how one can dream...

I have the mini tanto and just haven't EDC'd it yet. Lately I've been carrying my Aegis, and flash1 for when I want a smaller blade. I really like the assisted openers but the blade shape of the vulcan tanto is hard to beat IMO and I wouldn't hesitate to EDC it.

My Mini Vulcan is in my daily rotation and it's great. When I first got it I wore it for about 2 weeks at work cutting .010" brass wire and I still haven't had to touch up the edge yet

I've had the full size tanto blade vulcan about 3 months and it's become my edc. A really great blade on a well designed knife, fast opening and surprisingly comfortable to hold. I've always been a sheath guy but I actually use the clip on this one and only notice the knife enough to know it's there (good thing). Arrived wicked sharp. I'm curious to see how well this knife holds up over time but I'm refering to everything except the blade which seems very durable. Great price too for v10 san mai steel. Cheers.

Next month I will have carried the Vulcan for 2 years. I could not be happier with it. Sometimes I carry it by the clip, but mostly in a sheath. I like a bigger folder, and don't even notice the weight. Got my old Power Plier on one hip, and my Vulcan on the other.

it's on my rotation. full size tanto. it cuts exceptionally well.

Every time I carry it, it ends up in my wife's hands. She's very particular about the knives she likes to use. This one is at the top of the list. It's funny, without fail, she will use it and immediately comment on how well it cuts. She's done it 10 to 20 times. BTW, she purchased it for me. She's a keeper.

I edc a vulcan on occasion and love it. I agree about the weight, and sometimes prefer to carry a shorter knife. The blade is wicked sharp and easy to sharpen. It's one of my favorite sogs with exception to the trident.

I have had mine for 3 years and 5 days, and it looks, works, and cuts like it did the day I got it. It's easy to sharpen, and has seen me through two deployements, doing everything from picking out splinters to cutting through safety wire to get access to a secured panel. My only complaint is that I have broken 7 pocket clips, although SOG has and will continue to replace everyone I have or will break, it is the only downside, then again I carry them in the back pocket of my 5.11 Tactical Pants and I spend a lot of my day getting in and out of aircraft and it does tend to snag of hatchways.
Don't hesitate to carry it, it won't let you down!

I edc the full-size Vulcan Tanto VL-03.

The unique tanto blade (with the big belly) was the deciding factor to buy it. Since then, I have admired several other things...the arc-lock, fast/easy deployment, ergonomic grip, aggressive jimping on spine, etc. No issues with weight, design, or durability, and it came super sharp from Sog.

I think it's sexy as hell, and I get lots of compliments on it.

I ended up getting the "standard" blade shape mini and have been EDC'ing it for a few weeks now. I love this knife. Just the right weight for this kind of blade, wicked sharp and I love the smooth opening and rock solid lock up.

I plan to carry this for a very long time.
