A recent question asked in another thread led me to wonder how many guys EDC their Gold Class blades. So out of curiosity, how many of you guys do?
I generally avoid purchasing Benchmade's damasteel and/or damascus because (A) they are suuuuper pricy, (B) I would feel horrible using what I consider an art knife, and (C) other high-end steels are better performers. Hence, why I dont own any damasteel/damascus blades personally and why I chose Gold Class knives with S30V (high-end back in the day), CPM-M4, and M390.
Years ago (before I was a member of any knife forum or seriously into knives) I EDCed my Gold Class 910 Ti exclusively.. Enough so that the Ti lost most (if not all) of its blue ano and the blade/scales show decent wear.. I also have a user 940-121 and three safe queens (I really like that model). The blade on the user held up fine, but the scales definitely lost some of the green ano as well.. And now Im on to the 531-132 which will probably still look great after years of use due to the blade/scale stonewash and gray color.
I dont consider any of the Gold Class models I own to be art knives per se. I feel that they are improved regular production models.
