anyone else a boot junkie?

I love boots of all kinds, hiking, work boots, damn near any kind of boot. Is anyone else aflicked with this dreaded disease ?

I'm a junkie but since I wear size 14wide it limits my choices. I just got a pair of LL Bean Cresta hikers and they seem like keepers. I don't know if you all know this but if you purchase boots from LL Bean you can wear them hiking and get them dirty and they'll still give you a refund if you return them for any reason.

I like Nike hiking boots, to the point that I have one pair that the soles are detaching from the uppers, due to my size and my constant use of them. Another pair that the dog ate part of, but are still good work/hiking shoes. Another pair that are low tops that I use for walking, that are in real bad shape, but are supportive when I walk. Another pair that I keep in good shape, and use for work (pencil pusher). Last but not least, another pair that I use for winter hiking, that have Gore Tex liners. I had a pair of Airwalk boots that need to be repaired. Since it's a PIA to find Nike hiking boots, if I can't find a new pair of Nike ACG's, I'll start wearing Doc Martens chukkas.

Hi All-

The secret with boots (or any footwear for that matter...) is to purchase multiple pairs if you find a specific kind that you really like. By allowing footwear to breathe and dry thoroughly between wearings you will drastically increase their service lives...and I'm not talking by twice...but by three or four times.

9 pairs of Merrells (daily wear), 2 pairs of Scarpas for serious stuff, 2 pairs of Danners (including Ft. Lewis in the bug out bag.)

Thats all I will ever wear...I have probably about 5 pairs of various brands, which none are really high end stuff. Right now I cant stop wearing my pair of Carolina workboots which are quite comfortable and have great water resistance. Just the other day I was laughing to myself when their was a rainy day and everyone was trying to walk to class and was soaked along with drnched shoes while my feet were nice in cozy in thinsulate lined, water proofed boots . No matter how hot it gets or ho far I have to walk I feel lonely without a good pair of boots.
