dreading summer ??
This week has been dry and getting warmer and as each day passes I feel that aching dread of the hell on Earth known as summer here in the Central Valley.
The almost non-stop rain of the past month or so was sheer joy to me , I could not of asked for nicer weather ! The air was so crisp and clean , no dirt or dust in the air , everything is so green and pretty.
I drive a lot for work to customers sites and most of the scenery has been beautiful ! Nice and green , lots of blossoms.
Yesterday evening there was a nice thunderstorm and I love thunderstorms , the more thunder the better and today is just about my perfect day , cloudy and cool... I love it.
Ok so I've been told im a freak for being like this , loving "adverse" weather but I really do ! When I went to visit my best bud in Tulsa a couple years back we went thunderstorm chasing and that was a blast , intense and beautiful.
I lived in Ft. Lauderdale for 1/2 a year and my girlfriend at the time thought I was insane when I would go outside to watch thew thunderstorm pass overhead.. I could not get enough of those dark green rolling clouds and the massive rolling thunder , it made me feel alive ! lol
We came real close to getting swiped by a tornado during hurricane Mitch and I will admit that part was scary but otherwise I found the whole event exciting.
Anyway , yea I love rain and storms and one day I plan to live somewhere that it rains at least two-three days a week and never gets above 70' (my idea of paradise).
Anyone else out there love good rain and cool weather ? :)

Can I come and stay with you Mr. Viking ? You can teach me the Viking way !! (sort of like 13th Warrior style) :D
I want to try some of those little canned fishes you eat.

I agree with you about a good T-storm. I love to sit out on the back porch during a really good storm, watching it blow in, the thunder and lightning, the heavy rain and the clear up, later on. I used to have a neat little Cocker Spaniel, we called Maggie, that would watch the storms with me. She got old and died, though and my current gang of dogs won't sit out there with me. Buncha wimps...

I am thats for sure, I was hoping for a cool spring. Overall it hasn't been bad, but at the rate things are heating up in Houston....ugh...

I'm a typical New England Yankee...I complain about every season. I too love a good thunderstorm in the summer. The best part of summer is in September when we have our first cool morning...mmmm,great pipe smokin' weather!;)

I hate the summer and hot weather! I also hate the icy cold winter. I'm not too crazy about spring and fall, either. Basically, I hate all weather ..... :D

I think SW Western Australia has become a beneficiary of the change in global weather patterns. Our summers where brutal up until about 4 years ago. Now they are mild - with temperatures barely reaching the low 30's (Celcius).

Oh, sure, laugh it up now, but just wait till the outback turns into a lush green vacationland, and everybody wants to move there. You won't be able to raise enough sheep to feed them all. :p

Summer... let's see, what is there to like about summer?

Long, lingering evenings out on the deck... barbequed burgers... big glasses of Pinot Gris...

Your looking at the glass half full , I'm seeing it half empty lol
Summer to me is heat , hellish heat , volcano molten lava heat , bad horrid air quality , bugs everywhere , dead grass and grass fires , more heat , blacktop so hot that you can smell it.....
God , I cannot wait for October.

rebeltf, you're welcome to live in Sweden. There are 3 prerequisites though:
  1. You have to say bork when someone greets you, that way we know you're a probationary citizen.
  2. You have to know all the tax codes by heart.
  3. You have to dye your hair blonde.

Pinot Gris in Swedish translates to Pig Wine. :D

The only difference between Hell and South Carolina in summer is a screen door.

I am one of those people who loves "adverse" weather too!! I LOVE a good storm!! Thunder and lightening, oh yeah!! I love, love, love weather like that!! But, I also like the sunny days where I can go to the beach. I tend to dread summer a bit, due to it being full on tourist/ more idiot driver season!!

In Summer, I go up to the high mountains of the Sierras and Cascades, and usually get a thunderstorm with lightning, some rain, and occasional hail, each afternoon. Sometimes I'll spend part of the Summer along the central California beaches, and get a lot of fog each day through the Summer.

Hope to see you, there.

Mike

I'm happy here in the West Coast of Washington state, here in the good old USA...No HOT Summers, and no COLD Winters.:).
