Anyone else carries a small knife on a carabiner

I like carrying small knives on a carabiner. The binners in the picture work fine, but I'm sure they could be a bit slimmer. Can anyone recommend a smaller one and tell me where to get 3 or 4. I don't need a super tough one. Just small and secure enough to carry a 2-3" neck knife.

Anyone else likes to carry a neck knife hanging off the belt loop or on the gear?

I have a couple of little knives that I carry that way. Not so often on me, but attached to a pack with one of those little Nite Ize S-biners.

I have one that I carry a small knife on. It is a normal size though, no smaller. :o

I have a few S-Biners in different sizes and they have been really secure for a lot of things.

I usually carry a small 3" or so sized knife this way. I use Para cord to secure it to my belt though, I just find it easier to carry this way. I think the Para cord is plenty strong enough to carry a knife this way also.

Thanks for suggestions. I will check out ursalite. Looks like it is just a bit slimmer than mine.

How big is the smallest S-biner?

Tether cord is a good stuff, but I really want a carabiner. I just like how convenient it is. No need for mess with knots and is always there when you need it.

Found the sizes:

* #1: 1.56 x 0.56 in (4 x 1.4 cm)
* #2: 2.00 x 0.88 in (5 x 2.2 cm)
* #3: 2.63 x 1.13 in (6.7 x 2.9 cm)
* #4: 3.50 x 1.50 in (8.9 x 3.8 cm)
* #5: 4.38 x 1.94 in (11.1 x 3.3 cm)

I think s-biner #1 will be an improvement.

Is there anything good about 1" tall?

clinky clinky clinky drives me nuts... i can't stand the rattle of my HEST in it's sheath in my pocket, much less a knife swinging around on a metal carebiner...

Same here. Don't like to let anything hang, well except for maybe an organ or two... But these don't make noise :D

It's amazing the noises they can cause when manipulated properly :D But yeah, neck knives, lanyards, neck survival capsules or whatever else you want to throw in there.... definitely not for me.

I see thread was moved from "Wilderness" to "General". I have posted it in "wilderness", because I really doubt that anyone would carry a knife this way in any urban area. I sure wouldn't.

I tend to use them to lock knives such as my SAK and multitools to me when out in the air fixing machinery or looking over devices and I can't afford for the stuff to drop. Occasionally do the same when I am out camping or hiking, fastened to my trousers or bag. They are very useful to have around. Also nice to use in making shelters and all sorts of useful things. I have my keys, light etc connected to one too.
