Got mine a few days ago in the Blue Paper steel. Scary sharp, once you put some work into it.

I have two Nagao Higos. One with a shirogami san mai (White steel) layered blade and the other has the Aogami-warikomi (laminated blue steel) blade.

Don't really carry mine often enough. Interesting knife though

Mine gets carried for a few days every couple of weeks. It takes up almost no space in the pocket.

Sometimes, in a leather slip though, the thought of this razor opening in my pocket.............

I don't carry mine very often, but it's always on my desk at work (thanks, Dan).
Here's a photo of it with a little leather cover/handlegrip:

I'll carry mine every couple of months. I love the knife. I've had the urge to pick up another one or two. I'd really like to get another to have someone re grind the blade to either a thinner or hollow ground sabre grind or just a full flat. My only gripe with the knife is how thick it is behind the edge.
I think I'll carry mine tonight.

And I felt like getting all artsy-fartsy

... the thought of this razor opening in my pocket.............

Carried one for a couple of weeks, from memory a few years back. I stopped for the same reason - I put my hand in my pocket a couple of times and found the blade partially open. The thought of my fingers contacting that hairsplitting edge gave me the heebie-jeebies.

And they just didn't sit right in suit pants pockets which were my work clothes at the time - seemed to always want to slide down and lay out flat - and 'printed' horribly.

Maybe they'd do better in the bottom of a jacket pocket in a slip. It's interesting to see what you guys have adapted.

On the plus side, that Aogami ('Blue Paper') steel takes an extremely fine edge, and I love the lamination lines and brass patination over time. They make a grand desk knife and letter opener. I wish more traditional knives were made in the Hitachi Blue steels, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

These three knives were the only folders I EDCd and used for about three years - I was on a minimalist kick at the time.

The Opinel got the most carry time hands down, but the Svord and Nagao-san Higos got a bit of use outside of EDC carry.

Thanks for this thread, it's nice to see all your Higonokamis, and read your thoughts on them.

The pivot pin on mine is snug enough that the risk of the knife opening in the pocket is just about nil. A little hammer-work should tighten it up again when it does eventually work loose.
