I went to open some packages today and while taking my vantage pro out I dropped it. When it hit the floor that blade flashed out the quickest I had ever seen!
Just hadn't occured to me before !

I did that once. It happens when the knife hits the (hard) floor at just the right angle to push out the flipper at the back of the knife.

You're lucky. After I adjusted the pivot screw slightly to better center the blade, mine won't flip no matter what.

I've dropped both 110s and 112s and never had a problem.

Never had to adjust anything, either.

They always open and close just perfect.

:D

My regular EDC Vantage won't flip out when dropped, though I've only ever dropped that on carpeted surfaces. However, I have dropped my Vantage Force on concrete (poor knife has three little gouges in its handle now) and the blade opened halfway out. That was probably due to a combination of how it fell and the fact that the detent on my Vantage Force is a little weaker than the detent on my regular Vantage, though I'm sure that varies a bit between knives considering these are production knives.

Funny you mention this. A couple of days ago, my vantage fell out of my pants pocket. I too was surprised to see it ended up opened.

jacksterp,

i had the same problem after adjusting my pivot screw. put a little knife oil on the pivot and opened it and closed a couple of dozen times and now it flips open effortlesssly.
