Anyone else find themselves in this situation?

I started selling off stuff from my collection. Nice stuff. My Rodent Waki and Large Espada are gone. I'm working on selling my Krein modded BM42 and MT Nemesis 4. I'm dwindling what I consider my collection down to knives that I will actually carry and/or use. I once thought autos (OTFs in particular) were cool but now I consider them as money wasted on something that only gets looked at and occasionally fired/retracted. I don't know what I was thinking when I ordered them.

I've narrowed my collection down to these:

Stuff Reese Weiland "affiliated"

Stuff I have modded

Fixed blades

Other stuff

I will never get rid of anything made or modded by Reese Weiland. I will never get rid of the stuff I modded. I will never get rid of the shiny UT6s because that is my half of our engagement knives, my wife has the blued UT6s. I won't get rid of the tanto modded CS Spartan because TheCarbideRat modded it for me. You get the idea. My "keepers" are usually keepers because I associate them with people who mean something to me.

I don't have many knives compared a lot of the folks here, but what I do have, I cherish greatly.

Funny how it's like that eh? That's the way to go, IMO anyway. In the end, people are social creatures. Still have trouble practising what I preach though, impulse buys and all that jazz.

Congrats on the downsizing CM, I'm slowly doing the same.

I know what you mean about downsizing.I'm trying to do the same. The only thing that sucks is how little they are actually worth,as opposed to what I put into them.

I feel you on that. It sucks that I might have to sell my Nemesis 4 for $120 less than it goes for online. I lost $80 when I sold my Rodent Waki. I have to keep telling myself that the money lost actually helped me narrow down my focus to knives that work for me. In this sense, it wasn't money lost but an investment in learning what I like and what I dislike.

I managed to sell my Bayonet UT6 for $60 less than I paid for it. I figure in this rotten economy, if I can sell a knife for more than 2/3 of what I paid for it, I did ok.
