Hi all. I haven't actually posted in awhile on these forums and I thought I'd say hey to all of the folks who enjoy the Balisong like I do! I also was curious if anyone here was from OKC and familiar with the OKC Municipal Code or Oklahoma State Law regarding the carry of a Balisong knife? As best as I can tell from reading both the current State and Local Laws that there is no mention at all of the Butterfly/Gravity knife or of it being prohibited. But, I will be the first to admit I am not the best at being able to interpret these laws. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I hope this helps:

boy, the section for OK is short and doesn't say anything about gravity knives!?! It is smart to consult with the police dept to see how they interpret the law and how they decide if it is illegal. Good luck!

Thanks for the link! Yea that is what I have found for both the State and City Laws. Actually, the City law seems to be basically the exact same thing, relating to concealed carry of weopons. I have several friends that are OKC Police Officers and when I have asked them, they both pretty much acted the same way. When I asked if it was illegal to carry a Balisong they both asked what that was and then when I said Butterfly knife they both immediately said yes it was illegal, but the laws don't specifically set forth this ban. Is it possible that Police Officers are allowed to determine what is and isn't a concealed weopon and let the courts kick it out or make the person prove that it isn't illegal? Who knows, I think I will try and talk with someone in the DA's office, If anyone should know it should be them. I really don't care about getting hassled, I just don't want to commit a crime and go to jail or get fined!

Thanks Again.....Jeff
