I learned not to open the blades in the wrong order having strong half stops with very finely sharpened blades.
No pics of cuts!
Just be smart, smarter than me!
When oggling the 4blades spread open all at the same time....

Just what is the right order? Pile side front pivot, then mark side rear pivot, then pile side rear pivot, then mark side front pivot. I wasn't aware of a particular order. It would seem that the right thing to do is avoid contact of fingers with sharp edges regardless of number of blades opened.

As I tell the kids in my whittlin' classes - "Opening more than one blade at a time is a sure way to cut yourself!"

While trying to spread the blades of my Hen & Rooster Stockman for photos, I got a fine slice on my fingertip. The kind that doesn't bleed and doesn't heal quickly, but hurts like heck. It's not hard to do. I'm pretty good at it!
