/start rant/
I certainly understand the need for exchanging links, but I don't have a links page on my web site, and it is annoying when someone obviously using a listbot tells me how "they" were looking at my site and would like to exchange links.

That is just plain spam.

got me! ....hook line and sinker!

...and I thought I was special....:(

(actually, there was no harm done though)

If you guys knew Kirk Rexroat you wouldnt be annoyed by it. He is one of the nicest guys in the industry! (Yes, I got it to):)

I got it too. Didn't bother me a bit. I do reciprocal links anyway. I looked at Kirk's site and found that he's already got a link up to my site. ;) No telling how long it's been there. I'm just going to reciprocate and add him to mine.

Actually, I doubt if Kirk even knows about the listbot/mass mailing. I imagine it was handled by his web designer.

I am no way questioning him as far as integrity or being a nice guy. I drool over his knives at every show. That is absolutely not an issue, but you should know what people are doing with your name, even if it is his web master. If you are going to exchange links, make it personal...make it fun, but don't burst out 500 (exagguration) saying "hey, I saw your site and I really like it". That would be like one of us emailing everyone on the forums and saying "Hey, I got your email off of BF, come look at my site."

Please do not take this as anything other than a rant against the action, not the person.

Don't know about Kirk but I've been gettin a screwy email from an invalid hotmail address that has an attachment on it. Must be a virus cause I'm gettin it 5-6 times a day now.Heres the addy-stephdavrn@hotmail.com (steph). Anyone else gettin it???

Michael,
I keep getting emails from many different with something like "I need your advice" with an attachment. They all say the same thing Yeah, they have all been deleted without opening the attachment.

I've been getting dozens of those "I need your advice" e-mails. The attachments are usually Microsoft Word documents. As I'm not an idiot I haven't opened them but I've been getting very curious. I may transfer the e-mail to my old computer and open it up to see just how bad it is.

Interesting. In my earlier post, I mentioned that I was already on Kirk's links page. Last night I added his site to my links page and emailed a confirmation. Today I'm no longer on his links page.

Heck, I was better off before I agreed to trade links. I guess I'll wait a coule of days and see what happens.

I would advise not opening the (I need your advice) attachment.I believe you will find it is a virus especially if there is a double extension with it. Even on your old computer it will cause you a lot of work and possible damage to your computer.

Yeah, I got the same message. To me, a links page is almost as important as showing my knives. I'm not going to pay a search engine to list my site.

With the millions of sites on the Internet and 30,000 to 40,000 added each day, it's would be very hard for most people to find my site.

I'm glad that I got that spam or whatever from Rex. It's good inexpensive advertising.:)

Stay Safe,

A.T.

Lightman, I know it's a virus. I don't care. I've dealt with plenty of viruses in the past and come through just fine, thank you.
