Anyone else get weird spam like this?

I get this weird kind of spam every so often. Seems like a real strange stream of consciousness writing. There was a link advertising Viagra.

My spam program stops it, but I have a whole file of them. Would never click on the link.

Strange, huh?

I t was addressed to “oviedoroofing.” How did it get to me?

That seems to be a worm in the Bellsouth network. Notice that all of the email addresses used are Bellsouth. It seems to have started about a month ago.

Bill , it seems like the ramblings of a madman . Either that or something written only to keep someone reading it . There has got to be a way to stop it . Does it seem that you are on some kind of list ?

Steve's right. I read an article somewhere a while back on the disconnected text and it is there too fool the spam filters, works too.
On my sbcglobal.net email I get a lot of the crap in my "Bulk" box and I do my best to keep it thinned out because sometimes my friends and family's email will go there instead of directly to my Inbox.
I sort 'em out and send them to the Spam folder where I mark them as spam and send them on their merry way to my Trash Box and they are eventually deleted.
I have never opened not even one of the obvious spam emails.
 
Looks like it's trying to avoid/target Bayesian spam filters, which use statistical analysis to determine whether or not an email is spam. This type of
"Bayesian poisoning" mixes random chunks of legitimate text with "spammy" links in an attempt to confuse the Bayesian probability engine.

MauiRob, do you fry it up with brown sugar and shoyu? Best way to eat Spam! :)
 
Looks to me like these are e-mails designed to outsmart spam filters.

I use a simple system to stop spam. I filter everything as it is downloaded. The filter sends all messages from people in my address book to my inbox. Any message with a passphrase that I have chosen also goes to the inbox. And EVERYTHING else goes to the trash folder. If someone I know gives someone else my e-mail address, they know to give them the passphrase, too. And if I transact some kind of business online, I always put the passphrase into the correspondence somewhere. And the passphrase doesn't have to be something exotic; something mundane but not found in spam like "ABCXYZ" does the trick.

I haven't gotten anything like that lately. Just a few spam mails wanting me to fill in for the next of kin of some dead millionaire in order to help some attorney get most of it.
