Anyone else have a classic in their EDC rotation?

There is a saying in the classic motorcycle circle, "Ride 'em don't hide 'em". This should be our motto as well, there are plenty of 100 year old knives that can and should be EDC'd. Here is mine, a New York Knife Hammer Brand, I picked it up at an antique store covered in lint and grime, since it had a decent crack in the ebony scale I decided to clean it up and carry it, as it really had no collector value. I just glued the scale yesterday, polished it up (a sin, I know...) and put it to the ceramic stones, both blades are full and walk and talk beautifully. It's going in the EDC rotation starting today, and I plan on getting a few more out to do their intended jobs as well (Eagleton, Robeson, Pal, Cattaraugus, etc), I'll add them to this thread as they come to see the light of day.

We're all on this forum because we appreciate the traditional knives, and I'm sure we all have a few oldies that will lose no value as EDC's, get 'em out and let's see 'em. I can't wait for one of my friends to ask to use my knife, and the look it'll bring when I give them the history of New York Knife and the age of the knife in their hand.

Not as old as the others in this thread, but IMHO just as classic, and it does see pocket time.

1999 S&M EO Jack in Sheffield Wormgroove Antique Green Jigged Bone and ATS-34 Stainless.

Mamba, that's a VERY nice knife indeed! Must be rare, but I'm glad to see it's in use.

jnevill's idea of carrying vintage knives and 'tuning up' some battered examples is an excellent idea. I just wish I could come across some vintage stuff, I'd like to carry one on a regular basis, absolutely.

Looking forward to some more examples.

I don't know about classics, but I have a couple of oldies in my rotation -- an Imperial cattleman and a Camillus Army Engineers pocket knife.

Campbell,

I love that patched up Remington. Is that an old family knife?

The bone on the cat looks great. I find it interesting that with the threads asking about the durability of natural materials (i.e., bone and stag), often times the scales are in better shape than the blades.

Man that Catt is a beauty! And that Remington, that's what I'm talking about, that is a timeless classic, and should be used frequently. Keep 'em coming!

Got any shots of the blades on the bottom one? That's a nice knife!

Last year I was given a box of my Grandfather's knives. This one stood out...I carry it frequently.

Well, 90% of my herd is classic, if you count discontinued rather than 50 years or more old. When does a long unchanged SAK become a classic ? Anyway I do carry this old Schrade carbon TL-29 pretty often.....300Bucks

This is what I miss the most with modern factory traditionals, cool shields. My Case/Bose Tribal Spear has a cool shield, and my #33 Tidioutte Conductor, but you just don't see 'em like this or like Foxx's granddaddy's knife. The Cattaraugus pictured in this thread has a nice shield as well. Go through the "EDC" post and look at the customs that Elliott posts, those are some nice shields, and they give even the most average bone handle that something extra that makes them really stand out and recall these knives of old.

Wow...guys there are some lovely knives here,...I have a few as well in my edc pack..., I will throw in some photos tomorrow night when I get back...great old knives...

I have 2 in my rotation,

Kabar stockman 1100 (no idea about age, help is much appreciated)

Such great knives are presented on this thread, I love the idea of using the old slipjoints, they were created for use.

Instead of the Pal, I'm going to carry this Eagleton Whittler on my bike ride today, LV4 says this was made c1890.

Posted this one in Charlie's thread a couple days ago, but I've used this on occasion. Blade has a decent amount of play, which frustrates me and is why I don't carry it more. But I keep it sharp as a whip and it's the only gunstock I own...so I like carrying it occasionally.

Here is the little brother to the Catt I posted above. I carried this a lot for a couple months, but liked having the small secondary so started taking the 2 blader with me. I haven't heavily used either of them...just light cutting chores.
