How can i losen the detent?

I just got my first LionSteel SR-1A and it is tearing my fingers up trying to open it one handed. For one their is nothing for my fingers to latch onto to build enough pressure. usually the fingers can grasyp the longer clip or if the clip was tip down side carry. Also teh aluminum is super smooth and it is hard to get a grasp on anyting with it to open the blade.

I guess the detent has to be this tight because this is a tip up carry knife only. I have been cut three times by tip up carry knives and one of my basic criterias of buying a knive now is that it must have tip down carry.

But i melted and got this tip up Lionsteel anyway. It is a geogeous knife. I really like it , but not sure how often i will reach for it to use it. So far it will be a play knife to open and close while watching TV.

So what would anyone reccomend to losen the detent?

PS
oops!.,,,,One thing I forgot to mention. I put the Lionsteel SR-1A in the refrigerator to get it cold and it opens like a charm. But put it in a pocket where it is warm and it is real hard to open.

I'd just open/close it a bunch'till it loosens up. Mine was fairly stiff as well but it's butter now. I would not try bending the lockbar if you were considering doing so. I don't think the aluminum could handle the stress like Titanium or steel could. I could be wrong about that but better safe than sorry, right?

Okay thanks.. because my next thought was to bend it.

I got mine new. But second owner new.

That being said I have not seen a user on the exchange. It seems these knives are so pretty that people won't use them. I would love to see a picture of a user with sctrahed up blade and grips with a billion minute scatrches all over it where the paint is coming off.

If i have a emerson instead of a Lionsteel SR-1A and i will use it like a beater knife. But i get this Lionsteel for the same price as an Emerson and I refuse to make a dent in it. it sits like a safe queen cause it is to pretty to risk using. i am afraid to even carry it in my pocket. Always reaching for a ifferent blade when i leave to work.

So I wish i could see some pics of user Lionsteel SR-1A with scratched aluminum handles and worn down blades from being sharpened numerous times. I basically would like to see what one looks like with scratched up handles. Please somebody send their Lionsteel SR-1A to a relative who is a farmer or something similar like a carpenter and tell them to use it. Then take pics 6 months later and show us what one looks like after it has been put through daily chores on a farm.

I wish I could get a good scratch into this beauty queen. Then i will finally really start using it. Right now it is like precious jewlery or something.

Both of mine came smooth. I can see what you mean though. It does feel solid when I open it. Takes just a little bit more pressure to open than some other folders out there. I actually don't mind the detent in the SR1

Yes, it's very smooth but definitely has a very strong detent. It tore up my thumb a lot when I first got it!

Yep I just recently picked up a Blacked Out SR-1A.

It came really stiff and still is, I've only opened/closed it maybe 20 times.

I def would NOT suggest bending the lock bar, not worth possibly damaging the knife.

Just play with it for awhile and it should begin to get smoother.

I just got mine for xmas and the blade flicks open pretty well. The problem that I have is that the lockbar is so stiff I have to use two hands to close it. This lock bar is not getting any easier.

I just got mine today, and it was stiff right out of the box, but has gotten better just from being opened a lot today as goofed around finding the best finger placement on the handle for me.

Still amazed at the quality of this thing, never had a chance to handle a Lion Steel product before.

I have a lot of SR1's, practically in every flavour and in my experience, they open very consistently.

Closing is different, as one variable seems to be initial "stickiness" between blade and lock bar.

They all seem very good after some use though

Just got my SR1 today. Love this knife.
Opens great but the lock bar get stuck on the blade.
My thumb is killing me. lol
