If so what model? How do you like it? What do you use it for and so on?
I've got a nice little Alley Kitten with hard wood handles and brass fittings so it is not my #1 pick for field knives,it would probably be out there more if I got the kalguard finished blade. Good little fighter though, nicely balanced and holds quite a good edge once you get one on there, that would be about my only gripe about this knife, not quite as sharp as I thought it should be.
Just seeing if anyone else out there has/had one and what they thought.

Hey...

I don't own any,, but have worked on a couple,,and they look to be real High Q stuff...

The Alley Cat is a pretty cool blade no doubt..

I had Peter make up three Alley Cats for me with satin finished blades, ss guards, and assorted native African hardwoods. I like the Alley Kitten model a lot and almost ordered one of those as well. They are all excellent fighters but I agree with you that they wouldn't be my first choice for field knives.

His Utility Cat is another great fighter and more easily concealed that his Cats. Also, as the name implies, it lends itself to utility work as well. (I currently have one listed in the Individual F/S Forum. What can I say -- I'm fickle.

I also had a small fancy drop point that Peter made, IIRC, with ivory scales. BTW, Peter's son, Robert, is also a knifemaker and produces an excellent folder, the Shaman, that was featured on the cover of TK a couple of years back. (I saw one of these listed FS here on BF recently.)

I know both Les Robertson & Beck's Cutlery carry Peter's work, but neither seem to have more than a few models at any given time. Pure WAG but maybe his work sells so well in SA that there aren't many available for export. Whatever the reason, I wish they were more readily available.

I have the Rece combat. Really first class. Well worth the money. Since you're near Beck's it's worth it to see one up close. BTW I spent about 14 years at Fort Bragg, had a ball. what do you do there?

I meet a gentlemen today who said he had a Bauchop knife. From what we discussed he really likes it. Maybe he'll post tonight. If not, maybe he'll email me the website he told me about.

Oh I've been to Becks a time or three, good selection of Randalls and Bauchops as well as good people owning and running the shop. Thats where my Alley Kitten came from. I remember a few years back they used to come to Fayetteville gun & knife shows but they no longer make the trip. I'm sure that if you were into knives at Bragg you had to have gone to Cumberland Gun and Knife(now it's called Fayeteville Arms Room) and seen Buck and checked out his Randalls.
Good choice with the Recce, it would be my choice for a Bauchop field knife.
Right now my field knife is a Strider WB, good knife, I don't think I could damage it without really trying. But I'd always think about trading in the Alley Kitten(satin blade, brass guard and fittings and hardwood handle) for a Recce or a Kalguard finished and micarta handled Alley Cat, would make for a better field knife.

Fallschrimjager,
I remeber Cumberland Gun and Knife. The one place I saw a Spyderco dive tool(years ago) The last time I went to the Fayeteville Arms Room was before christmas. I was helping a friend get a knife for his girlfriend. I've missed the last 2 gun&knife shows in Fayettville. I had to work both weekends.
