Anyone else have the problem of figuring out which SOG knife to bring on an outing?

I'm going camping Friday and Saturday at White Hill Wildlife Management Area here in Central Utah. Most of my gear is packed, but I still can't deside which knives to bring. Sure I'll have my SOG Powerlock and what ever folder is in my rotation that day, it's the Fixed blades that are giving me problems. Should I carry a SOG Revolver, if so, which one? Or maybe my Tigershark? Should it be paired with a smaller fixed blade or go solo? Then there is the Tsunami, Gorvernment and Pentagon, hmm. My desert dagger needs to be sharpened so it's out of the running.

Then I wonder if I should bring other knives to go with the SOG's because IMO lots of knives from other brands compliment my SOG's nicely. For instance my Kershaw Echo hunting knife is a great small companion to my Tigershark. Then there is the problem of: If I bring a Khukri or Machete which SOG or other knife would compliment it for this trip?

The only thing I've figure out (and I figured this out long ago) is that I'm a knife nut. So does anyone else have this problem? :)

I have the same problem when I go camping/hiking. I have so many knives sometimes I just cant make up my mind. I will always take a multi-tool. As far as a pocket blade goes I usually take one that I will not mind losing, just in case. A good fixed blade such as tigershark would be good. But I may suggest taking the revolver if you going to be in deep woods, in case something happens that saw will come in handy.

I tend to group my knives in 3's. Then swap them around. Choosing knives is tough, when you have tons of every size, shape and function. I like knives.

I like big knives.

Moose, sometimes I'll do a 3 knife combo which is a Folder, Medium fixed blade and a Large fixed blade like a Machete or Khukri. I finally desided that My Hunter Revolver will be the medium fixed blade on this trip and that my 20" Sirupati will be the large blade. Took days for me to figure this out. LOL!!

Wildmanh, I don't usually have that problem..........I just have a few
SOG Revolvers to carry..........:p

I usually carry both models and a SOG night vision.

I carry the Seal Revolver in a kydex sheath and a Hunter Revolver in the custom sheath you made for me years ago......yes your custom sheath is still going strong after all these years. :)

I try to keep it simple because I always forget something anyway.........:o

I bought my SOG Seal Pup for use in the great out-of-doors.
Good intermediate sized knife; I must say, it's served me well.

When I go hunting, the SOG Tigershark is always tossed into the car. And usually the SOG Tech II. Then it's the "now whose turn is it to go" ..... the SEAL 2000 or the Tech I or the Recon Bowie or the S1 Bowie ..... decisions decisions. But those are the kind of decisions I like to think about and make.

Cheers,

When I go out camping I take a multi tool, whichever folder I'm EDC'ing for the day, and a mid sized fixed blade. That's my trio.

Right now the multi tool is a leatherman blast, although I do miss my all black powerlock - I need to get one next pay period :o

My folder is the flavor of the week/month, right now it's the CRK Umnumzaan or the SOG Trident TF-3.

The Fixed is either the Gerber Big Rock or the SOG Field Pup, love those two knives, affordable and they get the job done without complaint.

Seeing as this thread was meant for last weekend I hope the trip went well :)
