I guess everyone has seen my design that I'd like John to make next next once I've raised some cash. I just wondered if anyone else had sent him a design in to make or if you have drawn one up that you are thinking about ?

I love seeing peoples ideas so if you have any in the pipeline let's see em !!!!

I`m working on a customer design right now, a camp knife design, that will be done tomorrow or Thursday.

I've got an idea for a camp/chef knife, but it will likely be early next year before I'd order it.

I have done a few, I think you guys have seen them. If you want pics haller at me. John does an outstanding job of bringing a sketch to life!

I have a short (well, maybe not so short) list of designs I would love to see made into JK originals at some point. For example, I would like to get a JK interpretation of my scandi EDC, but in O-1. I have also been toying with the idea of a combi-ground camp knife with a flat ground front 3.5" and 2.5" of scandi grind near the handle.

Right now, though, I have a JK fire kit on order. I asked John if he could make the knife a smaller version of a Hudson Bay, and he said 'no problem!' Does that count?

All the best,

- Mike

Speaking of bringing the designs to life, how do you do it John ?
Do you print the pic off to size and use it as a template ?

John made this little knife with the pocket sheath and Warcliff point. I need him to make a hunting version of this with a similar pocket sheath. The handle would stay as is but I need a 3- 3 1/4 inch cutting edge with a clean sharp drop point. 1/8 01 and convex edge. this one has a 2 inch cutting edge, three would be great for hunting and leave it only 6 inches oal.

I find myself using this little knife more and more.

Sometimes, but the drawings are not always to scale. That`s when I try to rely on those years of tool maker print reading.

Here is a Hiker`s Backup size wharncliff I made a while ago.

Im not having one made. Not yet. But I designed a knife on paper. A canoeing, fishing , mushrooming , hiking, skinning knife that fits my activities. A hybrid of a Sharpfinger and a clip point with a scandi grind. I picture it being thin ,3\32 . No choil .

Heres my crude tracing.

I'm still planning on having John make this one up for me (my old contest entry).

C Bryant, that first one is a knife I've admired every time I see a picture of it. Very nice.

My design looks very similar to magnussens entry in the camp knife challenge, except for size.

Ever since my girlfriend has seen this knife she cant stop talking about it. Ive tried to buy her countless knifes and all she will tell me is "thats not like my JK" She doesnt own one but she still refers to it as hers. The urge is getting stronger for her to own one everyday. I can tell because today she said that she is ganna pay for it so she can get one sooner. She also was wondering after seeing your post about the white micarta if she can get it in that. Mind you she is kinda a girly girl and this will be her first knife ever so id say she has good taste. Hopefully we can scrape up the funds fast before she changes her mind about finally getting a knife.

Here's the one John did for me. Sent him the pic, plus a few specs, we talked it over a bit and made a few changes, and presto! I really like the way he handled the pommel.

Won't have this sucker in my hand until next week. That's painful.

It's a great little knife, I love the one I have. If it's gonna be a main knife for her you might want to ask John to make a belt sheath if that's how she is going to want to carry it. It comes standard with a pocket/neck sheath.

I've got the tan micarta with red liners on mine, and bigger hollow pins.

Also if your g/f finds some other sort of handle material, you can buy that and have it shipped to John and he will use it on your knife. Get in touch with him if you're interested in that, but there are a lot of choices out there beyond what John has (not to talk down John's handle material choices of course).

I don't think I have any pics of my neckmuk, but if one shows up I'll post it.

Keep in mind that payment isn't due until the knife is about ready to ship ;)

I just sent my first order in for one of my designs. :D It will also be my first JK:D:D
