I know there are knifemakers and such that have made it into Blade, but I was curious as to how many of us have been in "the knife I carry" section. I was in the September 2006 mag with a sebenza and project one. It took a few months to get in but was realatively easy. Later

My daughter Kim and I were pictured talking to Chris Reeve at Blade in the November '06 issue. Then two months later in January I (along with several other hogs) was pictured standing at the Busse booth. How I got in again without Kim I don't know, since she is the good looking knife nut in our family.

I had a Letter to the Editor printed way back when, it was the issue with the first Case/Bose collaboration on a green background.

At 2003 Blade Show I was at the Cutting Competition, at 2004 Blade Show they were handing out free copies of Blade magazine that just happened to show pics of last years show. So, I'm looking through my free copy and in the Cutting Competition article I spot a picture of me in the crowd.
Whenever I saw someone with a copy of Blade magazine I would ask if I could see it. When they handed it to me I would turn to the page with my pic, circle myself and sign it. I got some strange looks when I handed them their magazines back. Maybe I should have have just done this with people I knew there. :D

about 4 years ago, about 1/5th of an article on new factory folders.

Best Regards,

No....that's perfect just the way you did it, best laugh I've had all day!

Never pictured that I know of but I was interviewed a few times.

Featured in "The Knife I Carry" in ~'93 -- a picture of me with my first sebenza.

i have a photo submitted but havent been in the mag yet.

closest i have come is at the plaza cutlery show, you can see the back of my head near the emerson booth on their website. :)

Yes, The knife I carry and interviewed for a piece on "Knives in the Fire Service'.

Also wrote an artical for Tactical Gear mag, which is a sister mag. of blade.

do they just take submissions for that section?

Ditto. All you have to do is send in, or email some clear pics of you and your knife along with a short note describing them and how you carry and use the said blades. And in a few months you should be on page #20 of Blade Magazine.

A few times. One a little embarrassing :D When John Fitch wanted me to look at a knife with a 10X magnifier. (Not my usual practice when I look at a knife ;) ).

A few quotes in articles over the years.

My friend ("Calvin Cooledge") has one of the funniest pictures I have seen in Blade (and I go back to Vol 1 issue 1) wearing a "sandwich sign" at Blade stating that he will "watch knives for food". ;).

A question about collecting custom knives and storing them that I sent in, if I remember correctly, was posted in the Wayne Goddard/Joe Szilaski q and a section. I'll see if I can get it out, back in 05 I think.

I originally sent the question to Steve Shackleford, and he replied to me that he would pose it to Wayne Goddard.

Just an addendum, I let my sub run out for Blade, now, when I don't have any money, I am going through withdrawal for the magazine. Many a time I've been in B&N reading an entire issue...

Silent -- It's like $23.98 a year on the new cards in the mag - that's less than I spend on Pepsi a week. (newsstand is $59.88 a year) :p
