My band just had our first show over the weekend. I can't believe how well we pulled it off. We've only been a band since January, which is the same time myself(bass player) and the drummer started playing our instruments.

We got in 2 half-barrels of beer, a porta-potty, the whole nine yards. It was quite the event. We did a 12 song set. It was all covers for now. We're hoping to get some originals for our next show.

We lined up an opening band and get this, 45 mins before the show is supposed to start they come up and go "omg our bass player just bailed on us!". I offered to stand in, and was given 15 minutes to learn their songs, none of which I'd ever heard before. I'd say I did...."ok"... with their stuff. They were very pleased though.

Here's a couple shots from the show.

Used to play bass in a band. Now, I dont get much time to play. I love bass though. Nice jazz bass, I had the exact same one.

What songs did you do?

Scotty Doesn't Know - Lustra
What I Didn't Know - Aethanaeum
The Breakup Song - Greg Kihn Band
Inside Out - Eve 6
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
3am - Matchbox 20
Lame - Seven Mary Three
You Shook Me All Night Long - ACDC
Otherside - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Cumbersome - Seven Mary Three
Creep - Radiohead
December - Collective Soul

Then we got encored, so we did Beverly Hills - Weezer

Not "exactly" my kind of music, but the others love it. I demanded Otherside and Breakup Song :)

I play bass. :D
Were just a 16 year old rock band.
We are luck because our drummer is a music genius and our lead singer writes some of the best stuff I have ever heard.

I was in 2 bands in HS. I played bass in one band and I sang with my own. Both bands played several shows at area venues and had quite a following. Those were the days! Late night sets until 3AM, road shows, groupies, and booze. They all paled in comparison to the music we were playing at the time. I was at the top of my game vocally and focused more on that than the bass. While in the USAF I had a band that played Southern Rock, Blues, and Metal. We played every Friday night for a year and then Saddam decide to start a lil' something in Kuwait which ended our gig for a looong time.

I play drums in a rather contemporary fusion band, it's mostly improvised and is anywhere from as soft as a whisper to straight up hardcore, so we've dubbed it contemporary fusion.:) We play out here and there as things come up. Thanks for sharing your pics!

Here's a couple from our last gig, we volunteered to play at a fundraiser for a conservative, Lee Zeldin, who is running for congress in the area. It was in someone's backyard right on the water, and when we started playing I guess we were at mid-tide(if that's a word), and by the evening it was high tide, and the waves were splashing up on us every now and then, I learned that day that cleaning salt water off of a drumset is not fun! :grumpy:
