i'm a big fan of the vantage knives, i own a couple of the "large" versions.

while it's a great knife as is, i like bigger blades in folders. i'd like a 4" or 4.5" version, with a sturdier liner lock, and in 154cm or s35vn or s90v or one of the newer carpenters steels, with g-10 scales in various colors. anyone else like to see something in a larger blade with your own options, not so much mine.....or am i the only one?

I agree with a bigger blade. Maybe atleast some sprint runs or web specials of the vantage with some different steel like 154cm, ats-34, bg-42 or maybe buck can venture in the s35v area.

glad to see i'm not the only one wanting a bigger version. thanks for the feedback, Sirs.

I think the Vantage line is fine as is for a nice friendly non-threatening EDC. But I agree with seeing a larger Vantage Force, since that line looks more aggressive and rugged to begin with.

I would also like to see Buck offer some scale kits to add a custom look to your Vantage collection.

good points, thank you Sir. if you don't mind i'd like to expand on that and have a discussuion with all, over this topic?

interesting as most people say the vantage blade shape isn't threatening to non-knife people or knife haters...but i tend to find a different reaction from those types of folks. they seem to fear that shape (due to it's width). it does have a prescence. so adding an inch i can't believe would upset anyone who wouldn't be upset regardless of what knife you had in your pocket. i realize i am doing a bad job making my point, and i apologize, but maybe best said a sak small blade doesn't so much scare average people due to it's short and not wide blade, pen knifeish design, but anything double it's width gets people's attention regardless of length. obviously the longer it is, the more attention it's going to attract.

i appreciate your valid points, but i can't imagine putting a vantage down next to a vantage force to the average person they are going to say the vantage looks non-threatening and the force looks threatening. now to our eyes who are looking at every detail and all the angles and geometery we see a huge difference, but the average person not so much, except for the black coating on the blade. non-knife people equate black coatings with rambo/navy seals/military/swat, etc, so your likely right...the blade coating alone would make most anti-knife people call it a killing weapon.

in the end though who would i be to complain..i'd like a larger vantage, but if it was a vantage force i wouldn't complain...although i'm digging plain steel over coatings right now, but that's me. thank you for your input.

Hm. Good points. Now that I think about it, non-knife people seem to be at least a little intimidated no matter what non-SAK knife I pull out, be it my Vantage, 110, CRKT M16-13z, or CRKT M21-02G. And also, come to think of it, one of my classmates who carries a coated assisted-open Kershaw Blackout thought my Vantage looked more intimidating than his knife. According to his line of reasoning, my blade was shinier and flashier, thus drawing more attention than his less noticeable non-reflective blade.

I would have no complaints with a larger Vantage and/or Vantage Force model. Even more variants to choose from!

I have a number of Vantages, of which my favorite is the Vantage Avid (the rest are all Select).

The blade length is just about perfect -- just about -- lacking only about a half inch or so. A larger (like four inch) version might be intersting (as long as the blade isn't any wider), but I would no longer be able to pocket carry the knife, and it would have to ride in my [horizontal] belt pouch (as I do with the 110 when I carry it).

I like vantage a lot, even with the almost-long-enough blade, and find it broadly useful, even for food preps.

I find myself imagining a more slender version of the knife with a slightly longer blade. Think of a sodbuster-style clasp knife blade, about 3.5 inches, maybe a tiny bit wider, with everything else kept basically the same (thumb hole, flipper, slim package).

Anyway, I think an extra half inch would make a world of difference. A Whole inch . . . becomes a different animal (although I'm pretty sure I'd still like it).

i hadn't though of it in those terms. not a bad idea, Sir. i could go for that as well.

on the 4" can't ride in your pocket part of your post...i carry 4" long blade folders in my pockets easily. even at work in standard kahki type pants. why couldn't you fit a 4" folder in your pocket...just personal preferrence thing, or are your jeans just too tight?:) kidding.

I'm guessing that many of these blade lengths, such as 3 3/4, are to make the knives legal in states that make knives of an integral length, such as 4 inches, illegal.

But, I haven't surveyed the laws of all 50 states, so it could be my guess needs ... sharpening.

I'll throw my .02 in. :D

I think Buck was spot on with the Vantage lineup. As in, outta the park homerun. Whoever designed it is a knife genius. I think it is the ideal EDC knife. I have a Buck Strider, that fits your "larger" knife description, and it is large. While it is a "pocket knife" it is not quite as comfy as the Vantage.

I do see a larger vantage model selling, I just don't think it would sell as good as the current model. (IMHO) ;)

Before seeing a larger Vantage, I would prefer to see scales offered seperately as has been stated previously.

As much as I might want a little larger one, Id say your right here. Seems like once you go beyond 3.5" inches on blade, you start to lose a lot of the general everyday pocket knife folks.

BLAZE ORANGE!!!!! :D

I'd love to see one in the Buck line up myself especialy if it were offered in a "premium" blade steel like S35VN or M390.

Yes! keep the scale kit revolution growing. I really think Buck might do this if we keep asking. Just think of the possibilities. The blaze orange, all the camo's, I think that the kits would help move more paperstone and nylon handle units.

I think Postfalls is spot on ... whoever designed this was a genius...on comparing my vantage pro to other similar size knives the blade grind gives the most useable edge length. The point is very useable but not "intimidating looking".
I would like to have slightly slimmer scales.
A larger version would be a good "sheath knife" IMO

I agree with you . I like the biggest folders with sizes and steels you have mentioned.
4,5" blade is a version hard to find among the production knives, steels like S30V, M390 are good for edge retention.
4" blade is not bad too.
