I know he probably lives on in syndication somewhere, but we could really use his "knife-use-in-a-positive-light" quality in these dark days.

Anybody who could make an incendiary with toilet paper and a mentholyptus, and run his entire boathouse's power off potatoes was allright with me.

That man was all about saving the world with his SAK, and I never once questioned why he didn't believe in pistols when he was always being shot at...

Here's to you, Mac.

Professor.

(Where are my meds...)

Or did SAK's make his show the television blockbuster (;)) that it was?

Tough question...

Professor.

I do miss the show. I really liked it. I hope they put the re-runs back on tv soon. They may already be but I only have cable tv and its not on any of the channels I have. And yes I do think that his show helped the sales os SAKs.

used to watch it all the time when it was on...great show.
i caught an episode the other day, the flashback episode to when pete and mac met,of course,it was also one of the murdock episodes, too.

great show.

Nope, because the whole McGyver series was very anti-gun. There was one episode where McGyver supported a gun buy back organization in which a particular gun was not used to murder but "murdered" as they put it!!! The final szene showed lots of guns being melted! Political correct bullshit!
Besides, I always wanted to be the evil character anyway
(Murdock?) to show Mr. MacGyver what the old saying "never bring a knife to a gunfight" means... ;)

Macguyver was indeed a good show, but its positives were negated each week by the extreme anti-firearms propaganda. Macguyver was the sort of person who thought nothing of creating improvised explosives, but for whom the mere thought of touching a gun was enough to make him sick.

One interesting episode of the show involved Macguyver's efforts to save a farm or plantation of some kind from the ravages of army ants -- a plot line lifted from a famous adventure short story, Leiningen Versus The Ants.

They also re-used footage from an old film with Burt Lancaster called "The Jungle" I think.

Anyway, reasons I hated Macgyver:

1. Those of us who carried SAK's LONG before that show got sick of people seeing them and hearing the inevitable "you must watch Macgyver".

2. The guy was an idiot! You have 8 guys trying to kill you with AK-47's, and you disarm one you do not toss it away in disgust and then defend yourself with a blender.

3. Not only was the show packed with anti-gun propaganda, it ussually was totally B.S....i.e. "cop-killer bullets" kinda lies.

I digress, sorry I know in a knife forum this show will be popular, but I think it did way more harm than good.

Actually I like his newer series Stargate SG-1. I think they're trying to make up for all the anti-gun propaganda. Bunch of firearms in that one. ;)
