Anyone Else Pick Up a ZT Because It Was Discontinued?

I tried a ZT 0200 last year and ended up returning it because the detent was extremely weak allowing the heavy blade to open for little or no reason at all, in my pocket

Fast forward to the model being discontinued, and offered for $110. I bought one. Two actually, the worst that can happen is I sell it later on and pass the great deal onto someone else. I'm so glad that I did. The two I got (one black, one stonewashed) are both perfect, with strong detents. The knives are heavy as a folder can be (8 oz !?!) but they're balanced well and the flat ground recurved edges cut great. I'm no longer even considering selling my spare, as I'll be using the stonewashed 0200 quite a bit.

I don't buy many ZTs, because I dislike assisted openers, but I can't wait to see what they come out with next. It's not exactly rocket science to make knives with decent steel, G10 handles, frame lock, phosphor bronze washers, etc. but it's nice to see such consistent quality of materials and designs from a production knife line.

I've owned many of the models that are being discontinued, and the only one I almost picked up recently was a 0560BW since I like the look but not the price. Personally I'm probably not going to get any of the discontinued models since I'm not a huge ZT fan anymore.

I picked up a 0561 and love it. Not a big overbuilt folder fan, but I liked it and figured at these prices, plus being disco'd, why not? I own a 0770CF and 0801. Owned a 350TS but it wasn't for me.

Likewise, grabbed a 200 for $125, and could not be happier. Amazing blade and feel. Very interesting to think about what might replace it in the lineup.

I might have but the pricing isn't doing much to persuade me. Last year I bought a 560 and a 300BW for the same price they're being sold for now..

I'll drink to that.

I've never had a problem with any of the ZTs I've owned. Love the brand. Hate to see some of my old favorites go but am looking forward to what the future holds.

And KOD, I still need to pick up an 0770CF! I need to try one of those out!

The only disco'd ZT that I'm looking for is the MUDD.
I own and love my 0560 and 0770CF, and I'm impatiently waiting for my 0562CF.
At $209, the 0562CF was a steal and should stay in production for a while.

I had a couple of ZTs in my carts on various dealer sites, but just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. After buying a 0160 (and then another for the wife) and an 0801, I bought an aluminum 0770 on the Exchange. Well, I love the look and feel of the knife, but the flipper is too small and shaped in such a way that I can't consistently deploy it, so I don't EDC it as I thought I would. That being the case, I decided against ordering a couple other models on the premise that I wouldn't be able to try them out first. I have no doubts about the quality, but I'm past the point of buying knives just because they're discontinued and/or the price seems too good to pass up.

Besides, I'm glad I waited, because part of the money I would've spent on a ZT I didn't necessarily want 100% instead went toward a Camber that I absolutely want.

I was tempted by the 0550 and the 0560, but I am just enjoying my 0562 and 0801 too much to pick up anything else at the moment. Pass.

I'm a sucker for a discontinued knife. Just pulled the trigger on an 0200 in the black tungsten DLC. Also just picked up an 0750. Got one of the aluminum handled 0770s (got it in my pocket right now) and a blackwashed 0300 before they were cool and discontinued. So, yeah. I'm weak.

I just picked up a ZT0780, didn't realize it was discontinued, glad I got one, not seeing many out there.

You can still find some brand new ZTs discontinued quite a while back like 0700, 0750, 0780, etc. at some dealers who carry ZTs.
