I've had it. Tonight was the last straw. Its cold, there's ice everywhere. I don't have anything ready for christmas because I've been stuck putting in 10 hours a day at work. They want to keep working right now and then shut down after christmass until the 3rd. I want time now to get ready for christmas. Don't have shit to do between then and new years and would rather work then :jerkit: :grumpy:
I was on track tonight to finish some welding on a christmas present. Been working on it till about 11:00 every night after work for a week now and it was starting to look like I might be able to finish it in time. Then my new welder broke.
Its a hobart handler 175. Got it about a week ago, reconditioned with a 1 year warranty. Not what I really want, but I got it cheaper than a brand new 125 amp machine and I've really been needing a wire feed lately. Its a nice little machine, was starting to grow on me. Then the damn gun broke. Closest service center is about 16 miles away in a bad part of town and lord knows I don't have time to get out there anytime soon. I've got a stick welder I can finish my project with, but the parts that are left would go alot better with the wire feed.
OSU just sent me a friendly reminder of how much money I owe them before next quarter starts too:grumpy:

Wake me up in january.

I can relate, Matt. Too bad humans can't hibernate, huh?

About the Hobart: They were purchased by Miller so you may be able to find what you need online.

OSU: What's your field of study?

Yeah hibernation sounds great right now. Things did go a little bit better today. I got out of work by 4:00, got my christmas shopping done and I'm just getting in from the shop, have that last project about 80% done, and I don't have to be at work for 7 hours :D

I'm studying construction systems management. Basically have to learn a little bit about every aspect of the construction business so I know enough of the right words to pretend I'm an expert and boss people around.

Thanks for the tip on the welder. The gun is what broke, and it actually is made by miller, has the trademark right on the handle.
Even though its a reconditioned machine, it still has a 1 year warranty so I'm hoping I can get them to cover it. I might look into trying to upgrade guns also. This is an H10 and appears to be the same thing they put on the 120V welders. I'm wondering if its really meant to hold up to the duty cycle of the bigger welders.

A darn good field to be in. Good bucks in it. How much more do you have left to do?

If all goes as planned I will graduate spring of next year. Thats a lot farther off than I would like it to be, but I guess 5 years isn't too bad for a degree anymore. I'd get done sooner than that but most of my classes are only offered once a year and I'm off the sequence because I switched to this from engineering. So some quarters I'm stuck with 18 hours and others I can only get 6 :jerkit:
I think it will be a good field to be in. I don't know if I'll ever get involved in the large commercial projects, but the whole industry seems to be doing well.
