Holy Toledo! Did any other fellow Cantinaians feel the 5.4 earthquake this morning?

It shook me from my sleep. Quite a feat as I sleep pretty soundly. I didn't know what it was at first. The noise was intense. It sounded like a train or a tornado. My first thought was that the next door neighbor bought himself a really loud Harley and was warming it up in his garage so he could go for 4:40am ride:mad::p We live over by the airport, so my next thought was that a plane was going down.

I've been through a couple of quakes (not a lot of them in this area), but this was by far the longest lasting almost a full minute:eek:

I was at work visiting the nurse's station when it happened. At first it felt a bit like a helicopter was coming in. I just read on yahoo that they downgraded it to a 5.2. Quite interesting to say the least; this is the first earthquake that I can recall actually feeling.

New Madrid acting up?

The only quakes (2) I ever experienced were when I was living in greater Cincinnati. Neither were terribly powerful, but they were immediately identifiable.

Hope everything is still in place and in one piece.

Nothing here. I recall 2 quakes here. One time my buddy and I were out partying and stopped for beer. He went in. I felt my car going up and down and turned around cause I thought he was jumping on the bumper.

The other time I was at my house and I thought it was a big wind cause I heard my windows rattling. But then I realized ALL my windows were rattling:D

I've only been through one while stationed at Ellsworth AFB in SD. It was a really small one over here somewhere in Wyo. I was in bed in an old wooden barracks and felt the whole building sway for a couple of minutes. I thought I was having early morning bed spins :). Then I read the next day about the quake.

I hope nobody got damage from this one!

I was just reading about this on the BBC and though I'd post here to ask if anyone enjoyed a 'ride' this morning.

We don't really get quakes up where I am. There are little trembles around 2 or maybe 3 every now and then but I've slept through or ignored most of them.

Scary. "You knoweth not the hour... "

At least with hurricanes, we know.

Hm, Jake, did the pets act up?

It woke up my wife, but the dogs and I never felt a thing. She said the glass in the hutch and china cabinet were rattling.

Mike, I have no idea what the animals did. The dog has his own "room" that he is shut in since he likes to get up and hog our bed if we let him roam. The ferret never shifted that I know, but his meds make him almost comatose for the most part.

My buddies yorkie (yeah, i make sure to tease him for owning a yorkie at all possible times) cowered under his bed. My mom's old dogs just slept right through it.

I would say that the worst part for me was the sick feeling in my stomach afterward. I just got my guts all shook up:P

Just a present from California.;)

We are overdue for one in my area. I'd rather have a few a year to let off pressure than one big one.

They are quite a thrill, tho at the same time you're wondering is this going to get bad.

Time to double check the emergency supplies.

I was watching TV and our Doberman was laying beside me on the couch. I thought it was him moving, but when I looked at the dog he was just looking around. I saw the surface of the water in a glass on the end table rippling and knew it was a small earthquake. It is only the second earthquake I have ever felt in 54 years...

The only earthquake I've ever felt was in Cincinnati. I've lived in California for 25 years and seem to have missed all the ones out here. KNOCKING ON WOOD FURIOUSLY NOW!!:eek:

Now all you need is a few more shakers, a volcano or two and a butt load of money rich Canadians stampeding south of the border and you get to experience Washington state. :)
