For knife maintenance, I use those little cans of "air" with the long skinny tubes that are sold at Office Depot, etc to clean my knives of debris. No moisture, portable, and easier than going out to the shop to use the compressor.
It's also good for scaring cats away from open knives when working on them.
The cans last a good long time.
I also carry an old eyeglasses cleaning cloth to wipe away fingerprints, smudges, etc from the blades of my knives. Just be sure NOT to clean your glasses with it afterwards.

I've had more paper cuts than cuts from knives, but the knives are QUICKLY gaining!
