i use my seal 2000 as a feild knife , its chopped ; live wood , dead wood , a jarrah stake , a coconut , cut rope and bamboo , chopped bamboo , and has had been used to make a hole for a fire drill. anybody else use their seal 2000 as a feild knife? got any pics? i`m not the camera / photo sort , sorry :) this will probably also be the first knife i will try battoning with.

I have used my Seal 2000 in the field when I got it in 1998, but it was taken out of my user rotation in 2000, and I haven't used it since. Threads like this make me want to dig it out and use it again. Anyhoo, it did perform decently for the most part when I was using it. It handled a baton well, although I was careful to stay away from the tip.

I've been carrying mine for short over night trips. Only really used for gathering wood for a small fire while I'm fishing. If I go on longer trips I would bring an axe to chop.

It held up fine with the convex edge, no real need to sharpen after each trip. I carry it underarm, and comfortable enough for me to have it on me all day.

I used a seal as a knife once... and then P.E.T.A. showed up and protested - so I didn't do that again. ;)

Sorry - I couldn't help myself.
